You can weigh and measure the package and go to the royal mail website where there is a table of costs according to weight and size, to save you going around to the post office to get everything weighted, i just use ordinary kitchen scales, great for the smaller parcels, big heavy ones I take to the postoffice and get a quote on.
Gordon S - you have to put a price in when you advertise the item, so if you guess it you have to stick with it, you can't change it once you have an accurate cost after it's sold, that way you will get very bad feedback, people will not like this, they want a quote for postage that is accurate before they agree to buy. |

If you're in the UK go to the Royal mail site and have a look at their rates and estimate from there. I usually add £1 to my estimate to cover myself and to pay for packaging |

If you can get the item weighed, then you can go onto the Royal Mail website and it will tell you how much postage it will cost. Then add a little bit extra for your packaging costs and that should be fine. |

You can either take the item boxed or ready to the post office for an exact cost or what i do is weigh the item at home on scales and then use the postage calculator on the royal mail website based on the weight. I also add a little extra on to cover package costs. |

I have an ebay shop and I use kitchen scales to weigh the item and then I go to the Royal Mail website and find the postage cost. If it's something small like a lippy or an eyeshadow, I charge £1.75, this covers postage and packaging. Larger items like a bottle of perfume, I charge £2.50-£3.00. For huge items it's best to offer collection which is free. Hope this helps and good luck with selling.
Here's the link to my shop if you want to take a look:

Place the item and any packing material in the box that you are mailing the item in. Then weigh it [at home if possible], and meausre the box. When you come to the shipping part EBAY has it set up so that it will calculate each persons shipping charges, depending on where they live. It's best to always add a few ounces to the weight of the package to be on the safe side. Good Luck selling on EBAY |

Well I'm in the UK and I just go on the Royal Mail website, weight the item (kitchen scales are fine) and tell them whether it's an envelope or the package. Then it calculates the cost for me. Generally you shouldn't charge more than £2/$4 but it depends where you're shipping to.
Hope this helps xxx |

It depends on how big the things are, basically, hwo similar they are and how often you are going to be selling them!
If you're selling lots of different items over a long period, getting a set of accurate digital kitchen scales may be a help, becuase you can then work out how much the price will be based on the size and weight of the package. If you are selling lots of the same item, it will generally be the same for every one, so long as you pack them properly.
If you go on the Royal Mail Website, they set up how much postage costs for the various services. You can get them to send you a template to measure the size of the package for sending within the UK.
I work out how much the envelope costs, what the postage will be and add on a little for the paper, ink and sellotape. Then I add 20p and 4%. Basically I go on the principle that if I gave the item away for nothing and took the postage fee through paypal, all I should be out of pocket is the item.
I do a search on similar items, and look at what others are charging.
I then round the value up to the nearest nice round number.
It's not unreasonable to include up to a couple of pounds for your effort in packing the item, but I personally avoid putting my postage higher than what is generally charged for items like mine. |

hi i sell on e bay, unless you have scales you cant work out the exact amount, take one of the items you wish to sell packaged up to the post office and ask them how much it would cost to send first class, second class and registered post, then that gives you a rough idea, as to how much your other items will cost, always remember to charge for the packaging aswell, once you have been selling for a while you tend to know what will be pricey to send and what will be quiet cheap.if you go on ebay community you can also get some help there on p+P charges,if you do have scales go to the royal mail website and they tell you how much your parcel will cost depending on weight and size, hope this has helped. happy selling |

If you are shipping in the US it is about $23 with insurance and a tracking number for 10 pounds. If you have anything that is 5-10lbs just make the shipping 20-25 dollars and always get insurance and tracking otherwise you could get ripped off. Insurance is no so important but tracking information is a must, it is only 1.35 extra and it will protect you from people saying they didn't recieve the item and making a paypal dispute which will make you automatically loose your money without it. |
