You can turn 10 hours a week into $2000 a month working from home.. get informed and educated before you invest one dollar. |

I've been thinking about starting up my own business as well, but have been advised against it. Maybe after things calm down in the market it would be better. So you're a science guy, maybe you can start a business using science. lol |

The answer depends on the TYPE of business...
You asked about this particular 'time of year' as opposed to the current economic climate, This time of year comes around at exactly the same time EVERY year, so you have to choose a business that can sustain itself through the whole year.
It is always good to get a business off to a flying start, so if it is a fairly seasonal business like gardening, or building then this time of year will be a slow period that you will have to finance yourself through to wait for the busy time in spring to make enough money to get you through next years quiet spell.
My honest advice is don't start a business you know nothing about. Most businesses start with previous job experience or as a hobby. You could buy a 'Business in a Box' like a franchise, where you will get the support and training and also be able to see the business model in action first, but you will pay for the priviledge.
Working for yourself is not the easy option, but I know it must be hard and frustrating in your current job hunting situation to know what to do for the best.
Get yourself on a business course or down to a business club and speak to people who are starting a business to see what is involved... you may get some other ideas about a good business you might enjoy doing for yourself.
GOOD LUCK with your search... |

I have a business from the comfort of my home and could have obtained a residual income that grows every month only following a simple business plan. Step to step |

It is always temting to start your own business when you can't find work as you think that you would be better doing your own thing but the reality is that it is going to be extremely hard work whatever time of year you start your business. I have had several businesses and i can assure you that each one has made me wish that i was working for somebody else at that time....
Nevertheless..... This time of year is a good time of year to have already established a business for the Christmas market, something which will sell well on the build up to Christmas and get the festive pennies coming your way. But to start now mayne tooo late.
Also take into account that you are not thinking of doing this because you have had an amzing business idea which you are sure will work, you are thinking of doing this because you do not have a job. You say that you are a scientist ..... this means that your knowledge is mainly scientific..... You really need to think of a business which combines what you are good at with what you think you want to do. Once you ahev a plan you need to sit down and prepare a marketing plan and crunch the numbers. If it is not going to make any money then you should not go ahead..... No matter how good your idea is, if you are not going to make a profit you should not go ahead. There are prganisations that will give you free help to get set up but again if you are not sure what it is you want to do then it is not a good idea to go forward.
However if after thnking it all over you are still just wanting to make some quick cash think about selling something that will tie you over for the festive period ... selling Christmas trees? Gift wraps and cards? A present which is specifically for men as women are always looking for the ideal fun and novel gift for their man .....
GOOD LUCK! |

Most new businesses fail regardless of when they are set up.
I've seen a lot of businesses start and fail, but a few succeed. One guy I know bought a car wash that was losing $ 10,000 a month and turned it around and is making over $ 200,000 a year now.
A woman I know started a clothing store a long time ago and was on the verge of bankruptcy, but finally turned it around and has made a good profit ever year since the time she decided not to take bankruptcy and borrowed about $ 15,000 from her father to keep it from going under.
Nearly everyone else I know has lost money. One guy I know lost over a million dollars on a business. He was making over a million a year on some investments so he could stand the losses but not many people can stand these kinds of losses. He is now making a small profit by cutting out every kind of expense except for one employee who is the only one left of several. By cutting costs, however, he can no longer advertise and get new customers and is going to have some loss of customers who discontinue buying his products. If I were him, I would drop it. |

Most people will say that in this financial climate it is a bad time to start a new business, however recession also means opportunity if you can find the right opportunity.
Now I have been working from home for the 20+ years and started a new business about 9 years ago, this business is about to launch a new service that will expand extremely quickly simply because of the economic slowdown.
You say you are a science guy and I believe that science and technology can run alongside each other, my business is in taking a fairly modern technology and advancing it to benefit millions of people worldwide.
If you are really interested in starting your own business, I am prepared to help you, and will teach you all that is necessary to be successful, but success will depend on you, you will have to have the drive and determination to succeed.
Should you wish to find out more then get back to me by email and tell me a bit more about yourself, particularly age and where you live, then I can give you much more information.

With all the stuff thats going on at the moment like markets falling, stocks dropping very rapidly there's no point until the markets pick up again otherwise shares will be worth nothing and it would go bust |
