I want to get my business out there, and want to know if e-mailing and asking if I can drop off some business cards is ok?
Or should I go in person?
If e-mail is ok...what would be the best wording to ask?

Personally, I would go in and speak to someone. They are much more likely to say no by email than if you talk to them in person. |

Email is cheap, fast, and the least effective method you could use. For best results, go in person to the vets office with a bunch of cards. Most vets have a section for cards or a board to post such information, so it shouldn't be a problem. Ask the person at the front desk if you can leave the cards, or who you could talk to about it. It's much harder to say no to someone's face than it is to do so by email, so you will have a much higer sucess rate.
Oh, and don't forget to put cards at the local pet stores, too! |

For sure! Make your wording polite, but not grovelly or demanding. Maybe something like:
To [vet's office name]:
My name is [your name], & I've recently started up a cat-sitting business called [your business's name]. I was wondering if I could be permitted to leave some business cards and/or flyers in your lobby to help get my business out there.
Thanks,
[your name]
[some contact info, like email, phone number, etc.]
Going in person totally works too! Dress nicely (just like a nice sweater & not jeans) & bring business cards with you.
Or you could even call them! |

Honestly, I see these kind of business cards in vet offices all the time. Instead of emailing, try calling each one to ask if its ok to leave the cards. Most chances they will say yes. |
