bekah_hunter | Is it posible to make a decent living if I start a at home day care? |

Yes it is VERY possible to make a decent living with a home day care center as a home based business. My mom has had her daycare center for 30 years. Started it when I was 5. She's licensed for 14 kids. You can charge what you want, but this is what she charges so you do the math. She charges a flat rate of 1,000 a month per child, regardless of what days they show up or not. This makes her income part pretty stable. So if she is licensed for 14 and each charges 1,000 (but if their's sibbling she gives a break for the 2nd child) still that's over 10,000 a month. Some nice cash there. |

yea its really possible! i know about 5 or six friends that have entered the business and they really like it and are making enough money to sustain their selves and their home. the world is now changing and many mothers cant afford to be a house wife anymore so they pay a day care center...i think this would be an awesome venture for you...
wish u luck and hope i helped :) |

you are limited to how many kids you can have in your home depending on the number of trained caregivers. |

There are just too many variables to give a yes or no answer to this question. You need to sit down and do an analysis. How much will the cost of utilities and expenses go up with this business? Do I need insurance? How many clients? How much for each client? How much do I need to cover my expenses? Will this decision put undo pressure on other people in the household? Try to think of all the cost and see if this is realistic. Best of luck to you. |

It's possible to make a decent living - there is a huge need for reliable day care.
But remember, there is serious liability involved, and if you have employees there are a lot of tax headaches, and if you don't you never have a day off. Plus there are likely a number of laws to follow, and inspections to pass. Be sure you know what you are getting into. Running your own business involves a lot of work, and a lot more intensity than being an employee.
Good luck. |

Think hard about it. I love kids too. I did childcare at home before. I liked it for a little while. It takes time away from hobbies, errands, vacations, leisure time, etc. It require certain certifications ,etc. Follow your heart. |

in most states, you need to get at least a state certificate that qualifies u to take care of kids. depending on age group there are lots of rules u need to follow to qualify for license. if you live in a good neighborhood chances are u make money. u need to know poor people can't afford those things. people who work and make good money do need a day care.
do research before you start anything. it is going to cost some before you get started.
i know a woman from nicaragua who drives a cadillac and has a mansion here in california... she started in her house. now she has 2 centers...so... you see there is money... there is a lot of work..nothing good is easy |

First you must consider the laws in your state. Most states require home day caress to be licensed. There are a lot of adjustments that must be made to the home. If you have a spouse there are considerations for him/her as well. Please check your local and state laws.
After all of the training and home adjustments are considered, you can make a decent living. Here in Florida an infant to 1 year old can be anywhere from 100 to 200 a week profit. Also though there is a limit on how many children can be in the care of one adult.
I ran a home day care myself and loved it! I just couldn't keep up with the extra home owners insurance. |

I worked as a pharmacy technician I quit my job and have been struggling but I have to say there is a lot less stress in my life now anyway, my mother has always had these at home day care jobs it usually works out well if you have children (because chances of running into moms are more likely) good rates and a CPR license and take some classes that certify you in child care. Adding this to a job description would bring on more people. You should however do some research, laws have changed so much and you need city permissions for things and certificates for other things. It's not like it use to be that's for sure. But I am sure if you do all that and gather your information and are motivated enough, that you could run a very successful home day care program. Good Luck |

You can make alot more if you take care of disabled & special needs kids. (you might need to get a LVN license though unless someone trusts you enough with their kid) |

No. Plus, the liability isn't worth it. |
