I want to be a entrepreneur but I dunno. Is it stupid for a young guy like me 20/m to think that if I have an idea and decide to sell it that it will be successful? I try to think of different ideas that might become successful but is it the wrong way to think instead of just going to college and getting a degree? Should I stop thinking that I will come up with an idea that will become make me rich and just start focusing on getting a degree in a subject? What should I do ? Its all i think about.Please help me am i being stupid??

It is not stupid to explore your entrepreneurial options. Whether your choice is continuing education through college or exploring business without a degree, they both require much study. They also require the fine tuning of skills learned and implemented from study. first off... you won't instantly become rich overnight unlike thomas alva edison - the light bulb and other electrical applications, henry ford - the idea behind ford automotives, and issac newton - newtons law however if you study and do enough research on your idea to see if it exists or can be improved then you may just be able to get your "foot in the door" sort of speaking and from there who knows what will happen... you might even be able go worldwide with your idea however don't under any circumstances expect instant success because it takes time, energy, money, and commitment sometimes these qualities lack in the small business owners forcing to close the doors on businesses because it took too much to keep a store running
however if you believe that your idea for whatever it is that you want to pursue is something that the world could benefit from then by all means go for it no matter how realistic or unreachable the goal may seem... it can be done |

No it's not stupid! Selling an idea is a fantastic way to become successful - provided it's a good idea.
I must say though, it would be better to go to colledge and get a degree! Perhaps get a degree in business or something else that will help you with your business skills or perhaps scientific skills if you want to invent something.
By reading your story, it sounds like you don't actually have an idea yet. By going to college at least you'll have something to do while you think and something to fall back on if you flop! Perhaps college will inspire you to make something.
So in my opinion GO TO COLLEGE! What happens if you dont have an idea? You'll definately find better jobs when you have a degree.

You are not being stupid.
It sounds like you are an entrepreneur already by the way you are thinking.
The key to being a great entrepreneur is not to be so afraid of failing that you don't try. Most entrepreneurs fail before they succeed. Failing is how you learn. Welcome failure and learn from it then try again.
You really should watch the TV show on CNBC called "The Bid Idea". It comes on every week night and it's all about turning your big idea into a successful company. Check it out at bigidea.cnbc.com

You have to be realistic, not negative but you need to realize that so many people have ideas and go after making them successful and some fail and some succeed. If alls you do is sit here and talk about doing something it will never happen. You have to get in there and work hard. You can't only focus on the outcome, which in your case you say you want to be "rich". You have to focus on making a quality product. If all the inventors and creators in the world just focused on the money part we would have a lot less amazing inventions/products/etc in this world!
A lot of people want to be this so-called "entrepreneur" but all they care about is making money. They don't have a real passion or quality idea/product.. and they usually fail. It's the ones who have the brilliant ideas who work hard and are fearless and not money grubbing who make it. And who doesn't want to be wealthy? So join the club on that one! But before you even start thinking of a profit you have to find your niche.
Most successful people try many times and fail, but they tried. Eventually something sticks and they discover what makes them a success story. |

the best way is to do some research on your idea...and that's done by studying your target market...
the idea which you'll eventually develop into a product must be something that people want and provides great value & solution to their lives...
there are a ton of ways, but the first thing you should do is to do some research on your idea...acquire knowledge and position yourself an expert in that field...
there's a blueprint you can follow on product development etc...
there are tons n tons of e-books sold by many online marketers on this subject...
however, very recently a coaching program was opened by a world renowned marketer named Eben Pagan who has built a $20 million a yr empire who sells info products related to dating...
The coaching program had excellent training features to offer, everything from product research, development to running & growing your business...
the only downside was, it was too expensive for most avg. folks, and the reason y I myself didn't join...
it's a one year program where you are trained to be a successful entrepreneur, however, the monthly charge was $997 which puts it outa range for most of us...
anyhow...I am an aspiring entrepreneur myself, and I am 20 yrs old myself, so I can relate to exactly what you have mentioned...
my best advice would be to find a mentor who can help you through...and though Eben would've been the perfect one, his fees puts us in a hole, and besides, the coaching program is now closed to all those who enrolled...
btw, his coaching program is called the Guru Mastermind Program or something like that...
but ya, you are on the right track bro, just don't give up and do what needs to be done...
because let me tell you that you can get filthy rich selling info products...and if your idea sells, than you are ensured of a multi-million dollar empire...
