Shiv | Is "deliberate damage to company property" grounds for instant dismissal in most workplaces? |
Additional Details @Razzle
You wouldn't get through the door to smash my computer up, trust me.

|

|
Yes!! Be careful, the company could prosecute you too if they wish to do so!! |
|

Harriet
|
They should put it on the job application form 'Will you deliberately damage this company's property and why is that?' |
|

Yes
And if it was my property you damaged on purpose, I would call the police on you. |

yup, gross misconduct |

Sounds like gross misconduct to me, instant dismissal. |

If you are in the UK, you cannot be instantly dismissed, even if you shoot the boss! The employer has to go through a formal disciplinary hearing at which the employee may be represented. Only after hearing all sides can they determine gross misconduct and fire you.
I have known of grievance hearings taking place in prison as the employee was imprisoned for the offence he was sacked for.
Failure to follow this procedure can mean a hefty fine for the employer - even if the dismissal was fair. |

Sounds like it. |

Pretty sure it is yes.... any wrongdoing deemed as being done 'deliberatly' to a company can be grounds for instant dismissal as the courts would see it as fair. |

Yes. In fact it`s criminal damage. Definitely a reason for an instant sacking. |
