There is a small charge but its also a lot of fun. Be watchful of people selling new items. They might not even own it yet themselves. You send the cash and get ripped off. Then try to find them. We finally located the seller in such a deal for a laptop computer. After threats of police action (actually the Police do not take these cases), the person went out and bought the computer he sold to us! We did eventually get it at half price! We were lucky. How many others gave up? The crook still comes out with a profit. Actually it was my son who bought the laptop. All of my own buys and sells were fine.

Selling is safe, but of course you are faced with some decisions like if you want to ship overseas, or what kind of return policy you choose
And it is not free, eBay charges the fee to post your items up for sale and in case it sells, they also take certain percentage.
But if you have really popular items, it might sell well. Or sometimes, it's just dumb luck - if someone is looking for this particular thing you have and no one else does.

free yeah safe kinda but personally i dont shop ebay.............................. ebay shmebay

Ebay charges you a percentage for selling: a fee for putting up items for sale, and a percentage of the sale. So this is not a free endeavor. Nor is it entirely safe (what is?)

Ebay has rules and regulations to protect both buyer and seller, and has taken over PayPal in order to further control the purchasing process, but keep in mind THEY ARE IN BUSINESS to make money and so may not really have your best interest at heart. You've got to look out for your own interests. When you put up an item for auction, know that you will have to pay a percentage to put it up, whether it sells or not.

Check out what guidelines successful sellers have on their auctions. Accepting PayPal is the easiest way to be paid, but know that echecks can be forged, and credit card charges can be rescinded, leaving you with nothing.

Any foray into business is a risk, no matter how slight, so make peace with it. I believe that most people are honest, but some clearly aren't, so my great advice is: forge ahead and cover your rear!

It's 100% safe, whether its free or not I'm uncertain. Im fairly sure you have to buy a sellers account, but just go to ebay.com and look into it. You'll figure it out right quick.

Yup. However, there are MANY guidelines. Read them before you sell - and read the tips. It's a fine way to make a few extra bucks, but sometimes (at least for me) it is hardly worth the effort. There are Paypal fees, listing fees, insertion fees, etc... and unless you charge a whole lot for shipping you'll barely make a thing on cheaper items. There are many scammers but if you are selling just do not send the product unless the money is in your account. Also, before you sell, check out a similar item to yours in the "Search" menu. You will see the prices at which that item is (or isn't) selling at and be able to determine your asking price by that for the most part. Just go to "Sell"; eBay will guide you through it. Good luck!

It's safe if you are very careful and take the time to sell to people who are credible buyers. It's not free..EBAY makes their $$ by charging you a fee to insert your auction and then another fee (final value) based on your sales price. HOWEVER, you can make a great living, or part time income here! START by selling your own JUNK...someone else will love it!

It is safe but not free. What the hell is free these days

Neither. Why don't you read the FAQ at ebay.com? It spells out the fees.

rain_bud08
hardly safe hardly free. just got screwed over by them way to many scams out there dont do it!

Hi there, no selling on ebay is not free. You pay a so called insertion fee, which is dependend on the value of the item you want to sell, of course to sell an item there are many things to consider, for example pictures or the text layout, which, of course all costs money. After you sold your item successfully, ebay will charge you a so called FVF = Final Value Fee, that fee is a gratitude for using the ebay website to sell items, basically a commission. But there are other e-commerce websites around that are more value for your money. For example http://my.dubli.com/4769 is not charging the Insertion Fee, that means you don't get charged at all until you have sold the goods or the item. Also the Final Value Fee is lower than on ebay. The website is also not restricted in several countries like ebay with all the different endings such as .com, .co.uk or .de. It has also live currency conversion for products that are offered for different currencies, which makes it easier for a buyer to compare the total cost including shipping fees. Just try it, maybe it is simpler to compare the prices in my Blog. Just see my profile and click on My 360, there you find a comparison.

Good Luck...

Best Regards,

IDBA
Ralf
