Is starting a door to door business a good Idea?

Yes, in 1952.

Depends on what sort of doors you are selling. Seriously, no, I think people are too suspicious of door to door salesman now. The world has change a lot since the 40s, 50s and 60s. Sorry to burst your bubble

Door to door business is a tough job. I simply won't open my door to a salesperson who came knocking at my door.

Previously, I took up a job which requires me to go door to door to do a survey. They do not need to buy anything. They just need to answer a few questions and they get a keychain. But it's really tough to get people to open the door, cos a lot of them are like me (won't open door to strangers). Some of those who left their door open, immediately close their door without letting me explain myself that I'm not selling things.

So can you imagine how tough your life would be as a salesperson who goes door to door? You'll be tired and frustrated. But at the end of the day, how much can you earn?

Isn't it better to do up an online business? People tend to shop more if they don't feel obligated to buy your products.

It depends on what your selling,if your product is worth answering the door for.I must admit that if i see door knockers coming down the street,i shut the doors and pretend i'm not home...but only because i'm really bad at saying no and some door knockers are bullies!

depends on what it is. We get people like that here in the witness protection program... or as its commonly know, the suburbs, all the time.

Yeah, if you live in Mayberry and can travel back in time to the '50s! Good luck with that!

there are a lot of people who no longer open their doors to strangers (and who can blame them) the money and success is in internet businesses these days

Do yourself really like others knocking at your own door!?.....If the answer is a definite "Yes", then go for it!!!

I honestly think that unless you plan on selling chocolates or something quick (cookies etc) It is not a good idea. People do not have time these days, and will do exactly what they do to telephone marketers. They will slam the door in your face, or just say 'not interested' from behind the closed door. Don't let me however discourage you. In today's day and age whatever isn't at the mall is on the internet, so people don't need you to come to the door. Instead try an internet business. or setting up shop in the local flea market/bazaar..Good luck
