I have a home business and love it. I teach skin care and do 90% here at home and the other 10% I do not have to do away from home but elect to. I have my customers coming to my door. I've been in business for over 6 years and it was just incredible to be a SINGLE Mom dropping off her child and picking up her child in the afternoons at school... wow, how cool is that and what a blessing!!?!! I do however think my business it women based however I do sell to men but I can't see men making a living with Mary Kay. If you wish to know more, just contact me. gal4marykay@yahoo.com With our wonderful company, it doesn't matter where you live, who I recruit and who I sell to. I have customers I mail product to and I have a recruit that I've helped/trained online and over the phone and by mailing things she needs to her.
With everything though, I argee, check it out and do your research but with Mary Kay, the research is done already for you. (the sky is the limit) Best wishes, Tam

Hi there,

My best advice to you is research.

There are plenty of women and men who have become very successful, not to mention by marketing an idea of their own, rather than taking out a franchise.

The most critical matter is finding a service that most people want and is under served in your environment.

Even though I am English, I am an avid fan of Oprah.

Ms. Winfrey is one of the more popular champions of home businesses. Check out her website and do a search on successful businesswomen who started their careers on the kitchen table.

These women, might I add, didn't bother looking at what the market could provide for them, but saw a gap in the market for something that wasn't being provided and went ahead and did their research.

I'm not so sure that I've been inspirational, but I am attempting to be practical.

To that end, I would recommend a book:

Sun Tzu and the Art of Business - Mark Mcneilly (Oxford University Press)

Even though the book is nearly eleven years old, it is the most practical guide to business strategy - accessible to the layperson with no experience in business, whatsoever.

The book has become my business bible and has assisted me in creating a successful business.

Good Luck!

yours,

Mark

Yes, there are a multitude of businesses that are credible, legal and legitimate. You need to do your due diligence prior to getting started with anyone.

There are lots of tremendous opportunities available. And there are others that aren't quite as outstanding. And there are some illegal scams being marketed, too. That's reality.

First, think about what you are passionate about and what you enjoy. Is there a business model that fills that need? You will be much more successful if you meld your passion with your business.

Then, and this is crucial, analyze any business using these four "non-negotiables":

1. Who will mentor me? Make sure that you have a proven mentor to guide you. You are under no obligation to sign up with anyone and if you find an opportunity that is a good fit for you, interview potential sponsors. Find one that is already successful and ask the tough questions about what they are going to do for you, what their track record of success is, and what specific tools they will provide you with to help you succeed.

2. How old is the company? Under 10% of online or home based businesses make it through the first year. The last thing you want to do is work hard towards your dreams and have the company disappear. It happens daily. A good benchmark is 5 years of proven success. Ask for third-party verification (business journals that have written about them, etc.)

3. What type of pay plan? There are dozens of pay plans available and the vast majority of them are designed so that a few people at the top make all the money and no one else does. If you're not sure how to judge a pay plan, find someone skilled and have them give you an honest opinion.

4. Is it a real consumable product? Can you hold it in your hands, drink it, eat it, burn it, or use it in your car. If not, then you are never going to generate true residual income. You'll just be looking for new customers every month. The key to long term income is residual use of a real product so you get paid month after month.

I am an experienced business coach with decades of successful business building and would certainly be happy to provide you with any other information you need. No, I'm not going to pitch you an opportunity or try to get you to sign up for anything. My business is built on helping others succeed.

Feel free to contact me by email.

There are many legitimate home business opportunities in direct sales, internet/affiliate marketing, and network marketing/MLM. Be sure to thoroughly research and ask questions before committing to any one business, as well as checking out the company status in consumer databases.

Yes, GNLD, which is a 50 yr. old company. It is a member of the BBB, the DSA, has an FDA license and has a Scientific Advisory Board. My website is www.GNLD.net/energyboost. Anything you do, requires some work and investment, but there are more people making money internationally with GNLD than any other company. It has the best wholefood nutritional supplements as well. I have been taking them for 2 1/2 years and haven't been sick since! If you don't have your health, you don't have anything. Nani.

Hi, I personal looked for 4+ years for a way to work from home and be able to still provide for my family. I finally found it in Feb. of this year :) I have been so happy and amazed at how things are going. Now I do have to put a time into it but it is easily done. I put about an average of 2 hours a day and am already going to be able to quite my full time "regular" job and stay home with my children. I looked into many things surveys, Avon, Jewelry making, swap meets, you name it I pretty much tried it. You can make money taking surveys and reading emails but not enough for me to be able to stay home with my children and none that had a benefits package. The company that I started working with is a 15 year old health benefits company and we are all offered an AWESOME benefits package. If you would like to talk with me about it just give me a call at 800-958-5189 or check out my website at http://www.freedomathometeam.com/mlein

Good luck in your search. I hope that you find something that you will enjoy!!

Hello,

I think there are businesses out there that are not "scams." I think you just have to decide what you are willing to do to make your business succeed. If you want to stay at home, then you will want to learn how to network and advertise your business on the internet.
Try www.johnsinternetshop.com. There is no obligation or pressure. You will be getting advice (free) and guidance.
Good luck to you.

Hi there,

My name is Sultan Sandur and I am an experienced lifestyle trainer who focuses on helping others succeed. After reviewing your question, I would like to inform you that there are MANY companies that are not a scam. The industry is growing rapidly and if you do your research, it could be very lucrative. Beware of all the Scams though! If you are interested, I would recommend that you do your research carefully and join a company that is reputable and has a fair compensation plan.

The following are some questions you should ask yourself:

Is the product consumable and of superior quality?

Products should be high quality and any product claims should be backed up by science an in compliance with all laws. A company that manufactures all or most of it's products is preferable as they have total control over the quality.

Is the compensation plan fair?

Many companies make their money by paying out only the people on the top. Please do your research and find a company that provides fair compensation to everyone. There are many resources available for you to learn more about effective compensation plans. Let me know and I can forward you some further information.

How long has the company been in business?

I strongly suggest that you choose a company that is already established. Why? Start-up companies may offer wonderful 'ground floor' opportunities, but statistics show that 85% - 90% of new network marketing companies go out of business within the first five years, most of them within the first 18 months. As a beginner, you will have an easier time learning the business with a company that is established and has in place many tools and systems for supporting it's distributors.

In Summary, I leave you the following advice:

* Educate yourself about network marketing before you get involved, so you know what to expect.

* Don't allow yourself to be pressured into making any hasty decisions.

* Carefully check out the credentials of any network marketing company you are considering being involved with. Make sure you review third party resources aswell!

* Know yourself and your own interests so that you choose a product line that interests and excites you.

* Choose a network marketing company whose values are in harmony with your own.

Please feel free to check out my website or email me and I could provide you with more information and resources. I even have a link to a video online that helps people such as yourself learn about what to look for when starting a business. I can send you the access code upon your request. I have assisted many people such as yourself in the past and would love to guide you in the right direction! My services are free of charge.

Thank you,
