Yes and no. It depends on what you consider an investment. It could be more than just money- your time, efforts, and space in your home are all investments. You can start a home based business without huge startup costs. Just be frugal and go with only the bare essentials until you are sure the business will take off and be worth additional money, time, efforts invested. If it is something you are passionate about, then it will most likely succeed. Don't give up if it's what you believe in! |

It depends on what you mean by huge investment, to start any business requires some capital outlay, if you are offered one which doesn't then be careful.
I know of one which requires a very small outlay but which can produce a life changing income, if you take a look at this web site www.iolair.acnrep.com you will see an overview of the opportunity, make sure however you click on your country's flag at the bottom of the page. |

Most home based businesses do not require a huge investment. Those that do are likely at risk of going belly-up soon, so they're getting while the getting is good.
Any reputable company will get you started for just a few hundred dollars. The company I am with charges $35 USD for a one year membership, plus one case of product, so for just under $200 USD you can be up and running.
But then it's what you do with it when you get it. If you are serious about earning an excellent income, it can easily be reached provided you're willing to put the time and effort into making it work. Most home businesses involve sales, so you have to determine if sales are for you or not. If they are, incomes of $20k/mo are definately not unusual. Not bad for less than $200 invested! |

You can get started with several legitimate opportunities for as little as $0 - $50 -- this amount typically covers your website setup (if an online business), product samples, and access to other marketing materials you may need to promote your business. If you are asked to put up a lot of money upfront in exchange for basically nothing, then that would be an opportunity you would want to shy away from. You also don't want to get involved with a company whose products/services you don't believe in and get stuck with too much inventory. |

With the computers and programs available. EBay and other outlets. You can sell anything. Pick something and log on to eBay. Set up a seller account.
Many products do not require a purchase before the sale. Some companies ship direct to your customer, under your business name. Check out SMC Commodities, for example.
Any 'home show sales' will work - cosmetics, kitchen gadgets... Do some let work and you can find something. Good Luck. |

Consider your cash flow first to answer this question. You will need enough incoming capital in order for it to work for you and everyone is different when it comes to this. Having my own home based business, i assure you that you will want to really work out this before you start out as the first year is a major adjustment. |
