This is definitely a scam. The language reminds me of those emails from Nigeria that want you to help them smuggle millions of dollars out of the country. Do not ever take a check or cashier's check from someone, deposit it in your bank, and give them part of the money. Even if the check seems to be good, and the bank clears it, it might turn out later to be no good, and you will have to pay back whatever money you took out.
If you send them your name and address, they will probably start contacting you constantly, hoping they can sucker some money out of you. |

No giving your address should not be a problem, I got this exact email when I was selling a Wurlitzer synthesizer .... except for the dollar amount of course... however, if you get a money order or check, rather than burn it, I would take it and all correspondence to either the law or the FBI... wouldn't it be great to actually bust one of these scammers.

Since you have already given your information, when the check comes in the mail forward it to the FBI with attachments of the emails. Let them hunt the scammers down. |

Yes it's a scam. You go cash the check, and send him the "money back" as well as the product, only to find out in a few days, that the check was counterfeit.
Edit: "If it is a scam, what can this person do with simply my name and address?" He can send you the bad check for you to cash and send him the excess money back, only to find out days later it was bad, and get charged fees from your bank as well as be out the money you sent him. |

sounds like scam. how much overage do u figure the 'fake' check is for?
what happens is u deposit fake check .
bank takes up to 7 working days to find out it is fake.
u have sent the products and excess money back to them.
u find out check is fake. the bank demands money back or CRIMINAL charges pending (arrest).
u try to contact (now missing) person to no avail.
u now are out the money products and have criminal charges pending.
is that enough info?
contact bank on check to find out if fraud or not.

omg do not do it man your heading down a bad path there bro this can only lead to ID FRUAD he can do alot with that info my friend for one sonce he will know where you live he could choose do break in when your not home and with your name he may some how use it aginst you some how or order stuf in your name and send it else where leaving you with a big bill . also you should only accept money order since you know the funds will be more reliable if not cash talks . do n0t give up a thing before any moneys clear if you really have to accept a check . make sure it clears!!!!!! before any thing goes bye bye you know !!!! checks are a very bad thing to accept since you can not verifey funds readily . be careful !!!! |

Yes, it is a scam. The check they send will bounce. I know craigslist had a warning about this particular scam a few months ago. I don't remember the details, but DON'T DO IT! |
