There are a few legitimate data entry companies but are not hiring and have large waiting lists (1-2yrs). The majority of data entry jobs you seen online are scams. A real company will want you to have skills inc fast typing, may want you to know MS Excel, and will usually ask that you have high speed internet. Once in a long while you may found one online on a job website but thats rare.
If you do an advanced search on yahoo, you will find previous answers, sometimes the info on these is good as the info they gave is likely to have been verified if the answer was voted as 'Best'. |

I've worked several at home jobs with legitimate companies - they DO exist contrary to what some may say.
If you're looking for a work from home JOB (not a home based business), there are lots of companies who hire for call center type positions. And don't listen to the naysayers who say work from home and telecommuting jobs are all scams or that there aren't real jobs. There are. You just have to know where to look and how to avoid the scams.
Do NOT pay for a list of jobs or pay to get a job. There are a few of the legitimate companies that, after you have qualified for the job, ask you to pay for a background check if you will be handling sensitive information like credit cards. It's usually $20-$30 and from legitimate companies is a legit fee to pay. Other than that, there is no reason or need to pay anything if you just want a job. Some of the call center jobs, you are an independent contractor (IC) and some you are an employee.
If you want to start a home based business, there will be fees involved and business expenses. There are many legit business opportunities out there in direct sales, multilevel and network marketing. There are great companies to work with, but having a business isn't for everyone.

There are legit ways to work online, unfortunately, they are hard to find. There are loads and loads of sites out there that promise the magic answer. There is no easy way to do it, you just have look through thousands of websites to find an answer. Check out http://www.momwithamission.net and http://www.warriorforum.com. The first is a website I created for the very reason you are stating, to hopefully help provide some help to people. The other is a website for people who make their living online (like me) through affiliate programs, blogging, adsense etc. I have learned a ton from it. You can do this, but it is far from easy. |

You can work from home and make good money, just depends on what you do.
The best way is to start your own on line business. It's your business, you develop it and build it. No scam that way.
Your business can be anything you want it to be.
Why do you think there are so many URL's that are not corporate businesses?
I'd bet that the majority of websites are privately owned and those sites are the owners business sites.
I make money from my home based business and if I can do it so can others.

If you are talking about getting a job were you work for a company from home thats another ball game.
Different companies do hirer people that they have work off site (home)
