I've got that popular dream of starting a small at home business and have tried many times and many ideas all to no avail. I just wish I knew where to begin, people say 'do what you love' ...didn't help...much searching and advice and now I just want to go hit my head against the wall. I suggest you read a book called "48 Days to the Work You Love" by Dan Miller.
His book helps people think about their desires and finding the work you love (like the title says!). Everyone posting here will just tell you what they like. You need to research what your passions are and if you are passionate about it, you will succeed!

I know where you're coming from. Been there. I have always subscribed to the idea of being self-employed because I've worked for so many people that didn't have a clue.
