madamezoie | Legally do I have to start doing telesales if it is not in my job description.? |

I don't know whether it is legal or not, but I am sure it is legal for a company to expand your job description. I am always getting new things to added to my job description, I don't usually like it but I know if I don't comply I will probably not have a job. |

Your job description is whatever your boss says it is, unless illegal. (And no, telesales isn't illegal, unless it's calling someone on the US no-call list...) |

Do you really want to continue working for an outfit that does telesales? I wouldn't. |

dpends where u work. if it a union job report and u dont need to do it. other jobs thye can make u do anything they want you to do, except un ethical things of course. |

Um, you don't have to ONLY if your contract says you DON'T have too. Otherwise, you do what they ask you. |

the two cases where you do not have to, if you wish to remain employed there, are covered above [union or personal employment contract says no].
here's how to look at it .....
your employer knows you have no experience doing telesales. hopefully, that means s/he/it will provide training. {since they can hardly expect you to be good at it without training, if they do not provide at least coaching and scripts, find a job elsewhere since they are preparing to fire you anyway -- and if they do before you leave, file for unemployment asap and cite the forced move to a job they knew you couldn't do as evidence they intended to lay you off and that you weren't fired for cause or non-performance.}
this training or coaching is free to you and should increase your job skills down the road. more skills means more money, if not at this employer, somewhere else. [some sales knowledge is useful even for the person at a firm who simply answers the telephone and takes messages.]
Do NOT use your real name when making telecalls. using a middle name that isn't known to most people is fine. make sure your supervisor/manager knows the name you are using. [no one should use their real name in telecalling -- you do not know who you are calling and you do not want to discover a stalker who loves the sound of your voice.] Put up a sign in your space with the other name on it so you'll remember who your telephone voice is [and so the super/manager will too].
Selling is a valuable skill in constant demand by employers. Should you become good at it, you'll make more money than ever -- somewhere.

Unless you have a contract, the answer is:
No, and legally they don't have to keep employing you. |

if its not in your contract no |

You don't have to do anything you don't want to, unless you signed a contract that says you have too. They also don't have to employee you if they choose not to either. Get the idea? |
|

?
|
no. and don't persuade yourself to start telesales. there just a load of blaggers sat in an office feeding of the easily manipulated and vunerable. then pride them selves on there success. try some motage work putting up campsites in europe. do a google on european camping firms and apply on line theres loads. |
