My mom bought a restaurant, and put it in my name. She then made all the business decisions, regardless of my input, and ran it intto the ground, then closed it, and didnt pay the employees, or issue them W2's for the few times she did pay them. Now they are suing me and I am broke and cannot afford a lawyer to help. what can i do??? My mom just left me hanging out to dry, and she couldnt care less. |

It's your fault letting her put it in your name. You must have signed for it, so I'm sorry but it's up to you to get it sorted. |

How did she put it in your name? Did you let her? If that's the case, then there's very little you can do. Why wasn't there anything you could do while she was "running it into the ground?"
If she put the restaurant in your name illegally, then you should be able to take legal action against her. If someone commits a crime against you, you don't need to be rich in order for that person to be prosecuted.
Contact your local courthouse and ask what you can do. There should be legal aid that can help you in your situation. |

how old are you? you can try suing her, but if you let her put it in your name (you signed the paperwork) then it's your responsibility and yeah.. normally you should be able to trust your mom... but you should have kept an eye on things before it got to this point... good luck |

Get a lawyer and fast. They will work out payment plans...most likely you'll be able to go after your mom for the lawyer fees anyway.
And why did you let her put the restaurant in your name? Did you sign any of the paperwork to let her put it in your name? |

I don't know man its a sole proprietorship in your name. You are responsible for everything that happens to the business. Sorry that your mom is a ***** by the way. What are they suing you for? |
