My husband runs a small business department inside a large business owned by his brother.
My daughter needed a job bad, and asked her Dad if he'd hire her...( she has a hard time finding work in this area) The Dad reluctantly hired her, ..knowing she is strongheaded and would cause problems,.. but he hired her cuz he loves her and hoped that through this there strained relationship would possible grow to the better.
she has been a real pain, note that the Dad is set in his strict ways, being brought up by a militlray father himself, and him also a military man.
The Daughter is disrespectful and remorseful, talking behind his back, not doing the work the way he wants it done, she comes in as she pleases..(till he set a ground rule withe the main boss...now she comes in on time) ....one thing after another has happened and it is very sad. Now another girl has been hired and she buddies up with the daughter,so there are 2 of them now making his life miserable. I say fire them b |

i work for my familys business, and my dad and i are night and day in the way we do things, but there is only one boss and that is him, so toe the line and when its my turn to run the place then i can do as i see fit, till then if i wanna work here, i do as i'm expected and eat it and smile,, if your daughter disagrees then she should get a different job, one way or another |

I agree. If she isn't doing the job she was hired for, she should be fired, but if it hasn't already happened, dad needs to sit down with her and confront her about her behavior and that it is unacceptable and if it continues she will be fired. At that point, if things don't change, then it would be fine to fire her. |

I took in a grown son, an alcoholic and addict, and his 15 year old daughter.? Two years later, I was broke, my business was toast and I had a permanent injury caused by her carelessness. It will be a favor to her for dad to fire her and she'll have to make it somewhere else. My grand-daughter can get a job in a snap, but hasn't held one because she likes to punch people's buttons. Sound familiar? |

It is a hard position to be in for your husband. If I were him I would have a meeting with both or them. Have the ground rules written down and give them each a copy. Let them know that if everything isn't followed to the letter, then they will be terminated.
He could even have another manager present during the talk. Explain to the daughter that she is being disruptive at the work place and he can not tolerate it. Then he has to follow through.
She will be angry but he has to do what is best for him and the company. If he isn't comfortable with that then have his brother do it.
You know he will have to fire her and it will be ugly but at least when it is done he will feel better and he will not be as tense at work. |

He should explain to her that as his daughter he loves her very much, but as an employee he cannot make exceptions for her and not for other employees. As an employee she is expected to work just like everyone else and obey the company rules just like everyone else. If she doesn't want to then she should be subjected to the consequences just like everyone else. |

Your Daughter needs to work for someone else besides her dad, and I say someone who makes her follow rules or lose her job, this could be a great experience for your daughter, but it is taking its toll on the father, I for sure would have the main person in charge talk to this other girl and let her know she will lose her job, discussing another employee at work. It is a hard thing, but lessons in life are never easy. And this is your husbands career on the line. People will start talking how he lets his daughter do things out of line. Could be trouble. But I can understand about no jobs in an area, I use to live in one of those areas it is a bad thing. Goodluck and try to stay out of the middle and never take your daughters side that will give her more fuel for fire. |

I say if she needed the job really bad he needs to tell her that it is not working out and lay down the rules again and if she messes up then tell her she has to go and don't back down on it ....when you say it mean it she will hopefully learn her lesson and know that daddy is not playing around .....if she comes and wont's her job back try her one more time may be she learned her lesson if not let her go for good....... |

I agree, firing (the daughter), would be the best thing he can do. My brother works for my parents and he shows up at noon, they pay him full time, it drags the rest of the company down.... |
