It turns out he is mixed up with some pretty scary people. A biker gang. These people dont fool around. He is my boss so he knows where I live. I didnt know what i was getting into with this guy. Any advice? |

You contact the Labor Board in your state. They will investigate the matter and see you get your check. Sometimes all you have to do is tell the ex-boss that you are going to the labor board and they pay because they don't want anyone checking their books. Worked for me. It doesn't cost anything either. Going to court does. |

Move, leave no forwarding address, get an unlisted number, then go to the labour board. |

If it is a lot of money, you should try to collect it. If it is just a few bucks then forget about it.
If it is a point of principal with you, then complaing to the state EEOC. They can help you out. |

Depends on where you are - California law is stricter than any I have ever seen for pursuing an employer for violating the Labor Code.
Contact your local Labor Board IMMEDIATELY! |

A) Sue him
B) Take him to Small claims Court (same as A, but no lawyer)
C) File a complaint with your County Attorney or State Attorney General. Make certain they know you are frightened and/or have been intimidated.
D) Move out of the area
E) Nothing |

If he has threatened you, you can get a restraining order against him and I suggest you do.
After wards, go to small claims court if he owes you less that $5k. You will need proof of hours worked.
But getting a successful restraining order can also show the court his behavior and lends credibility to your case.
You should also file a complaint with wage and hour in your state. Go to your states homepage, under department of labor, in their you will find the info you need. It's free to file, and they will call him and question him. If he owes you, or they think he owes you, you will be paid, he will be fined.
But get the restraining order on top of that to protect yourself. Then if you see him within the boundaries of the order, he will go to jail for violating such order...not questions asked.
Even if he just happens on you at the food store.

Depends on how scared you are. Go to the appropriate state
agency and turn him in. They'll make him pay up or shut him
down. I can't believe a biker gang would mess with a honest
person trying to collect a check that's due. |
