Id suggest that you subscribe to Entrepreneur Magazine, where they give you a lot of Franchise information. If you have no ideas and just want to start a business, a franschise is probably the way to go for you. It will take $$ to get started, as you have to buy the franchise, and you will also need a lawyer and that sort of thing to guide you through the franchise process. And bear in mind, you arent guaranteed any profits, and could actually lose a lot of $$ if you arent careful, so do your research. |

Hey there...i think you have to look ahead 5-7 years and try to determine what the trend will be. Look at the success of the internet/technology boom in the 1990's...certainly it has slowed but is still quite prominent. I think the trend will be toward "going green" or being environmentally sound. Starting a company that somehow focuses on Earth friendly services is certainly not mainstream right now but will be in 5 to 7 years. Start a successful company in that arena and in 5 years when it is trendy you can be sure some large corporation will be willing to buy. JC |

Sorry, I don't get it. If you want to open a small business, surely you must have some idea of what you want to make, sell, do, etc. There's one thing I do know, the most successful businesses are owned by people who are passionate about what they are doing. You have to love what you're doing in order to put in the kind of time and energy it takes to get a business off the ground and out of the red. You and your husband should decide what you care enough about to work tirelessly and without any profit for at least the first year (some people say the first 3 years). I am convinced that if you go any other way, you will fail. When you love what you're doing, you don't count the hours or the money; and before you know it, you're in the black. Good luck. |
