so, i'm starting up a massage business, however, in order to get a business license, i need a name!!!
if it helps, i want to focus on healing massage, vs just relaxation.. using energy modalities in combination w/ nutritional advice and overall total health to help w/ illnesses in lieu of unneccesary medication... solving the cause not treating the symptoms..
anyways.. any suggestions?

The naming of your business could be one of the most important decisions you will make. A name's originality and legal availability will create a real asset value of its own, as it becomes marketed and gains market acceptance.
The name you choose will become the focal point of all the benefits and features that relate to your business. Customers will be able to find and refer others to it in the future.
Since any names that are suggested here may already be owned by another party, I wanted to go a different route...
I suggest either hiring a name creation firm or get together with your friends and/or family and throw a "name party" & have everyone bounce some ideas around. Compile a listing of names that you like the best. Once you have that list, do as much free research as you can before you delve into comprehensive research.
I listed some links where you can do some preliminary name checking. However, please be aware that this is merely scratching the surface of what's out there.
Only comprehensive research will tell you if the name is truly available. But, these links are free & a great place to start, so I'd try them out first.
Comprehensive research consists of looking at marks that are similar in Sound, Appearance or Meaning in the pending & registered Federal AND State trademark files as well as the US National Common-Law files.
There are other sites that offer free searching capabilities in conjunction with their commercial services, so I'm not able to post those links due to the Yahoo! TOS. You'll also want to check domain names & yellow pages, so simply do a search for "free domain name search" and "national yellowpages" and the appropriate links will pop up.

1) Include a reference to your area/location:
You didn't mention your city/area but that's important to a lot of people. So, I live in Richardson, if I'm looking for a massage place, which one do you think I would call first:
"Total Health Massage"
or
"Richardson Total Health Massage"
2) Find out what your desired customers are looking for.
So from your description, you want to attract people who are open to the idea of "using energy modalities in combination w/ nutritional advice and overall total health to help w/ illnesses in lieu of unneccesary medication... solving the cause not treating the symptoms" which would probably be a different crowd than "rich old ladies with arthritis" or "hardcore athletes" - right?
So... ask those people what they want. Do they want a certified herbal nutritionist on staff? Do they want a holistic energy guru on staff? Maybe hang out at a Whole Foods for a day, giving out "free 30 minute massage if you take a survey" cards.
Take notes from these conversations - record them if you can. You will hear certain words and concepts repeated... see if you can incorporate them into your name.

This will give u a list of domain names for sale along with search capability to look for a domain name based on keywords like "healing" and "relaxation".
This will give you some interesting company names to choose from. If u like the catchy names...consider buying the domain name from the seller.
Worse case scenario, find a name that you like from ur search and the price is too high, modify it's spelling and register it yourself. Then, you can have a domain name and a business name as well.
