New business Ideas ? My husband and I want to start our own business but we are not sure what is best HELP???

We are both currently employed , we work in a call center , is a good job but we are starting to feel sofocated ... We like thebidea of a cafeteria or Lounge coffe shop , a Bed and breakfast ( dont know that we would have enough $ for that )Or should we try and buy a already running bussines ? We have a small capital to work with , and probably have to get a loan to get the bussines working ... and also we just had a Baby ... so you know we have to be responsible ... cant be something to crazy ... But i definetly dont want to work in a call center for the rest of our lifes ... My husband got a masters in marketing and bussines Im a very creative person , and we are both really hard working ... I know that most likely I wont get a solution to our problem threw this , but this is more like an outlet to what Im feeling .. Still any cool ideas would be apreciated !!!Tnxs for reading all of this !!!

Do something you are both passionate about and could see yourselves doing for the rest of your lives. Personally, I like the coffee shop / lounge idea, but if it were me, I would do more of a bakery / lounge.

Let him do the business end of it and you should go for the design aspect. I would work on the marketing together since you are creative and he has a degree.

I know what you are going through as far as being in a job and feeling frustrated because you don't see yourselves there the rest of your life. You and your husband are very smart in staying where you are until you find something that you want to get into. From your comments it sounds like you are already brainstorming for ideas. It sounds like you both want to be doing something that would not have you in an office environment which I can relate since I worked in an office environment and was always wishing I was somewhere else.
The thing about starting a business yourselves as you are aware is that you will need to have some serious capital or a nice loan. The only problem with that is you have to start making money right away to repay the loan before the interest eats you up. With starting your own business you will find it hard if not impossible to keep your current employment since you will be needing to get it going and fast for financial reasons.
With purchasing an already running business, you have got to like the product or service and you have know why they are wanting to sell it. To many businesses are out there for sale that are just barely making it and the owners are wanting to get rid of it and fast. The thing is they are not going to tell you that it is in trouble because no one will buy it.
Another option is to purchase a franchise. There you have the same financial requirements as both starting a business of your own or the purchase of an already running business. But you have a product or service that is for the most part successful.
The option that two of the most well known business people (Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki) mention in there books is Network Marketing. I would suggest going to Barnes and Nobles or Borders bookstores and look at there book â€œ Why We Want You to Be Richâ€. This is a way for an individual to be in his/her own business yet not having to have the financial capital to do it. Some of the most popular Network Marketing businesses are Avon. Mary Kay and Tupperware. These are businesses that do not hire a sales force in the same way that most businesses out do. They have a business format that is MLM. Companies like Amway and Herbalife have cursed the MLM business format because of there tactics in getting distributors. In these businesses you are working as an independent distributor being able to have the same tax advantages as a home based business. The same freedom to be your own boss and to work your own hours. The thing is to find one that has a product you like and one that will provide you with the necessities to get started. Yes you will have to invest some money into them to start and of course time. The money you will need to start up is to cover the costs for the business materials they will give you to get going and the training you will need to be successful. One way to weed out those that are for real is to look for a money back guarantee if you change your mind in the first 30 or so days. Nothing is for free and those that you can get into for free are not legitimate.

If you don't already have your hearts set on opening up some type of restaurant (by the way, these start up businesses have the highest failure rates of any other business type) you might want to look into starting a business incubation center.

You would essential be helping entrepreneurs with ideas get their businesses started while providing some of the necessities that small businesses need but cannot always afford, such as effective marketing, operational advice, effective business plan writing, loan proposals, etc.

In exchange for your services you could charge a flat rate or a portion of the ownership of the businesses that go through your center, that way if the company ever goes public you get a big payoff.

This is a good idea for people who really enjoy entrepreneurship but don't always have all the ideas to start the next big thing.

I have always wanted to start a cafe'/blues lounge. I don't know why, just think it would be fun. To have a place where folks just come and hang out, read the paper, surf the web, have a drink, or grab something simple to eat has always appealed to me. Good luck with your endeavor!

you should do something green.....an ecological bed and breakfast, or a natural food store, or an organic tea lounge, or a line of green products. Its the newest thing, its good for people and the earth, and I think it would be successful.

Whatever business you choose make sure you both work at a job like that for a few years. You have to have the skills for the work not just the business education. At least you have capital many just want people to buy a business for them when they don't have the skills, education or capital. Some businesses are riskier than others restaurants go out of business the greatest percentage. A bed and breakfast is probably lower risk if you have the cooking skills and can keep a home spotless and have the people skills. It is 24/7 work so you would probably have to have payroll and pay payroll taxes.

I started an on-line travel agency through a really great company. The start up costs of a home based Internet business are considerably less than the other forms of business. The tax deductions for a home based business are awesome- any accountant can tell you that. If you like to travel and would love to make money doing it, you might want to look into what I am doing.
