Definitely! Bring back the corner sweet shop, I say...
Oh - and if you sell Flying Saucers, I'll be your best customer! |

Well think in terms of profit per 100g. Around 20p I should think. How many x 100g do you need to make before you can live? Tons and tons I should think. It doesn't add up, sorry. |

no way i love my sweets. even though people are gravitating toward healthier choices, they always breakdown and return to their childhood love. |

You have to work backwards
Sweets always make money but you need kids in the store...
Find a location and find the rent and other costs
You will find you need to sell chocolates ; card;; and other stationery and maybe run a post office, |

If you only stock one product category ie sweets, you will shooting yourself in the foot big style. There will only be one reason for someone to come to your shop. If you remain as a general dealer and focus on convenience you will have multiple profit opportunities and a far better chance of success.
Would you go to a restaurant that only served one dish? |

Why not specialise in old fashioned sweets. They are still popular. |

Don't even think of it. Being in competition with the big supermarkets is the route to a slow (or quick) death.
If you have a totally unique and desirable product line slight chance, but the marketing/advertising will cut a big hole in your profits. |

might not be a bad idea especially if you have treats for people that have diabetes and stuff like that. you'll get more customers that way. good luck |

this sounds quite cool, but u have to make sure it's unique and special, so you have enough customers to actually make a profit. Create a great atmosphere, maybe sell ice-cream and coll drinks in summer, and special treats for Christmas etc?
ask your customers what kind of sweet they miss and are willing to pay for. Scout local shops and stock up on special treats they don't offer. you should think about also doing things like cakes so you can extend merchandise and make more customers and money!
It you make it more than just a sweet shop, but a shop that offers great buying experience you should succeed!
good lack, and make sure you let us know where is your shop, I feel like it's a place I'd like to visit ;) |
