First of all you are a wonderful girl. Today very less people care about their parents. You dont need any certificate for baby sitting. Charge about maybe 10$. Cutting neighbour's grass is another thing you can do. Well help your parents and show them you really love them. Moreover dont take too much burden of work. Just spent great time with your parents. What greater gift can be for parents them that their child is loving and caring.

baby sitting should be good. No cert in the US and charge what the market can bare. It's the American way!

no you dont have to be certified unless you take more then 12 children watch daddy day care with eddy murphy most of the rules in there are the same but if it is less then 12 then you can babysit them and i usually go $5 a weekday $8 week ends its low but if you have five little ones you made 25 for the first hour and usually you will work about 6-9 hour work days in one 9 hour day you have made 225 dollers so it all depends on how much you can handle so good luck

That is a good idea. No cert. is needed. Also lemonade stand is good.

Babysitting is great. Try to see if any local shops are hiring for the holidays if you are able to work. If you are not permitted to work, you could sweep or do other tasks such as that where people would pay you for your services. When you shop, don't fret trying to buy a $50 this and a $60 that. There are lots of lesser-priced really nice things that people would love to get. Remember that it is the thought that counts, so just be thoughtful. I will be doing A Lot of thinking because I have NO money to do holiday shopping lol aah nothing like my 1st Christmas as an adult.

HyperDog
It's always good to be able to show parents that you have first aid and infant/toddler CPR and Heimlich training.

As for other ways to earn $$, this is a good time of the year to do light clean up work outside people's homes (weeding, raking, sweeping, etc.), so drop off leaflets at neighbor's homes with a phone number or E-mail address.

With the exception of babysitting, however, I would recommend NOT doing any type of work that involves going into people's homes, unless it's a solitary grandma-type and she a reasonably close neighbor.

Kaska
Babysitting no license needed. Check with your parents friends and ask them if you could babysit a few nights to earn extra Christmas shopping money. Be sure to mention you trying to earn money so they don't assume your doing this for free. Hash out the price with the parent.

Some lawns may need a final mowing before winter. Rake and bag leaves.

you do not have to be certified to babysit. also you might want to do some handy work for the neighbors, tell them the reason why you are doing it.
you charge on how much you think that your efforts are worth.

carwash with your friends
sell cookies, refreshments, etc.
garage sale
run errands and household chores with pay
and babysitting would be the perfect christmas holiday job!
don't charge too much.

Cherry
If you are going to take care less than 5 children you won't need a certificate! Well you can charge by day, this area where I live people charge 25 dollars per 6 - 8 hrs or even more!

There were a ton of things that I use to do prior to turning 16 for money that seemed to work. Babysitting was one and no you don't have to be certified however in general it is a good idea. A babysitting course will teach you about basic first aid, what to do in an emergency, how to react to strangers, how to change diapers and such.

Other things that I did including mowing lawns, gardening, snow removal, window cleaning --- essentailly odd jobs that people needed done but which were either time consuming or messy.

At the time I would get anywhere from $5-10/hr. I didn't usually have fixed rates. What I would do is agree ahead of time that the job was for pay and then negotiate a rate that worked for the person I was doing the work for. So sometimes I got lucky and got $25 a lawn and other times I didn't and would get $10 but at least I knew I could always have repeat business that way.

The only provios however is that if you start to do odd jobs or baby sitting of any kind it would be advisable to tell your parents what you are doing and where. A teenage boy going door to door asking about odd jobs is less likely to get into trouble than a teenage girl - there are weirdos out there.

You'll want to discuss it with your parents first regardless of whether it is for friends and family or not.

You really don't need to be certified if u babysit in the neighborhood and around where people know u. Also u can sell stuff that u don't use anynore or buy candy at wholesale price and sell for store value and watch the money roll in.

Depends wher eyou live. Most teenagers don't need a certificate unless they are under a "Daycare" type situation. Call the local zoning comission and ask them to point you in the right direction; and good luck

I don't believe you have to be certified but it makes you look better to parents if you are. You don't have a lot of time to find someone who wants to hire you. As for how much to charge - what do your friends get? It's been a long time since I needed a sitter so I'm a little out of the loop.

Hi!
No, you don't have to be certified. Just make sure that you know how to take care of the children :) Lol.
It's a good idea since there's handfulls of people that need their children watched. :) I guess you could charge anywhere from $6 to $11 an hour, or something like that... you can also ask them what they thought would be a good price or what they would be willing to pay. If you like what they say, then take it! :)
Other good jobs that are easy to come by are dog walking, pet sitting / taking care of plants or getting the mail while people are away. Those might be better than babysitting because you can do it more to your schedule and you don't have to stay as long. Also you don't really have to deal with angry parents if you give their kids too much junkfood or something weird like that... lol. I personally don't like babysitting, I've done dog-walking and house-sitting before and I liked that better.

wutsupdog345
Babysitting is a pretty good idea i would say about 7 dollars for infants and an extra dollar for each extra child. Or your starting price be 5 dollars with a dollar for each extra child.

If babysitting doesnt work out well you can also try:
1. seeing if your parents will give you extra money if you do work around the house
2. have a yard sale
3. make something like bracelets or something and sell them for money
4. make something as a present
5. sell artwork or auction something off of yours

one way out of this is that you could look at it that its not your responsibility to buy gifts for your parents or family but its a good gesture so baby sittings good and you have to be certified at CPR i would charge 7.50 an hour. good luck!

Cathy
As a beginner I would say $8.00 then $10.00 if you feel you have good business. Supply & Demand.

it totally depends on the kids' parents, if they're comfortable enough with you. It definitely looks good to be certified, but I've never had a certified babysitter!!
I usually pay my babysitters $20-30 for an evening, or $40 overnight. Or else sometimes only like $10 if it's just an hour or so. I probably wouldn't charge more than $5 per kid per hour. You could probably ask a little more if they have a tiny baby..especially one who cries a lot. Just remember it's always your say if you'll babysit or not, and if there's a realllly bad kid, then it's your choice to babysit or not.

Another way you can make money is make little crafts for Christmas to sell...or get into sewing, maybe you could make personalized Christmas stockings to sell, or Christmas ornaments. Another thing you can sell is "cookies in a jar"...you put all the ingredients for any kind of cookie in a glass jar or canister...layer the ingredients so they look pretty, put a pretty bow on them and sell them for ppl to give as gifts!!! Include a lil slip of paper w/ instructions how to make them....all they gotta do is pour the stuff in a bowl, add milk, and cook!! :D HAVE FUN!!

Hey....that does sound like a lot of fun....maybe I"ll do that myself!! haha

Babysitting is great. Just make sure you are getting payed enough. At least 5.00$ an hour. I don't think you have to be certified, but I've never really babysat before. I don't know anyone who has children. But there are other ways to get money too. You can go clean a neighbors house, pet sit, split and stack fire wood( I wish I could get paid for doing that at my house) Wash cars, do yard work. I'm sure there are lots of leaves to rake up some were. You just have to be creative in coming up with ideas. And careful. You don't want to work for just any one.

I have never heard of needed to be certified just to babysit.
I would charge 20 for an evening, say you keep the kids while the parents go for dinner and a movie.
Umm ask for extra chores around the house, explain to your mom you want to earn to buy your dad something, then tell your dad you want to earn for your moms present, and do all the chores they give, show an effort. Good luck

babysitting, clean neighbors' house, cut grass, garden.
