Please recommend a good book on how to start a small business.?
One book on starting a small business that I like is the updated edition of
Running a 21-st Century Small Business
by Randy Kirk (Paperback: 416 pages; Publisher: Warner Business Books; February 17, 2006)
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0446696188/ref=nosim/powerhomebizguid
It is a thick book (416 pages) and it provides detailed step by step guide to starting a business. No fluff, very business like approach and it gives you the steps you need to do as you prepare your business plan, your grand opening, one month after the business up to your first three years. It also covers managing employees, managing yourself and your assets.
Other small business books that I like are:

Not sure about actual books. But most banks and organisations that help small businesses do guides which are really useful. Cover all the essential anyway.

Any book written now is out of date before publication. You can get lots of solid info online and see other businesses in operation.
The "Books for Dummies" Series are informative, easy to understand and a good price point. Try reading "Small Business for Dummies" ... you'll find it interesting.
