Whenever you take antibiotics you kill off all the good bacteria as well as the bad. This leaves a nice little gap for yeast infections such as thrush to creep in! Antibiotics kill bacteria not yeast; you need an antifungal cream such as Canestan AND you need to fill in the gap with good bacteria or it will keep recurring. You can use some of these expensive yoghurt drinks from the supermarket or buy some tablets that are much more efficient. I am in the UK and buy from Healthy Direct as they are cheap and efficient! (I don't work for them, honest!)
The other thing to note is that yeast thrives in damp conditions so wearing a skirt and cotton pants for a few days should help as well.
Hope some of this helps as thrush is so painful. |

i believe that thrush is something that is recurring.
how about an oatmeal bath?
im not sure about treatment as far as medication goes though. cant you pass it on to your partner though?
be careful about that. |

I take it you are female- it could be thrush but you need to go back to dr and get swabs done to get proper diagnosis. Thrush can recur esp if you are on antibiotics, are pregnant, diabetic, use perfumed soap etc. Try natural yoghurt on a tampon !! to ease discomfort. if this helps then sounds like it is thrush. |

Perhaps your BF is infected - antibiotics can also cause it to keep coming back as can some soaps - talcs - perfumed bath salts - it can also be passed on by oral sex and oral thrush is quite common |

You have thrush, you can buy canestan cream over the counter and its cheaper that way too. I found when I was on the pill, I got thrush often. Don't have sex when you have thrush, you can pass it on to your partner, who will need to be treated as well. If you are continually getting thrush and having sex, your partner could be giving it to you without knowing it. Try not to wear tights or tight jeans and preferably cotton undies. |

to me it sounds like thrush
what you must not do is bath and keep cleaning it makes it worse the water and damp feeds the thrush
you also need to treat the inside and outside of your (you know what)
you can buy canasten duo from chemist
but you must also treat your sex partner too as he could be reinfecting you and visa versa
good luck been there and its sore!! |

I am seriously amazed by the number of people telling you its thrush and recommnding anti-biotics.
Anti-biotics are used to kill bacteria - a lack of bacteria promotes an ecology where thrush and similar fungal infection thrive.
IF it's thrush you need canenstan tablets an pesseries - don't bother with the use once application you need to use the 3 day course - wash internally with warm salt water - 1 teaspoon per pint. Use active youghurt orally and internally to promote helathy bacterial growth or swab with baby oil as this creates an anaeroabic barrier that kills thrush.
Get you doctor - or local STD clinic to take a swab - it may not be thrush it may be NON-Sepcific-Uthritus in which case
1. Get antibiotics,
2. stay off alcohol and
3. avoid high protien foods including milk and cheese.
NSU like thrush can cre-occur. |

It sounds like you have an infection. Did the doctor who treated you give you antibiotics for BOTH you and your partner? If you are taken meds, but he is not, you are probably just passing the infection back and forth between the two of you. I had a similar problem a year ago, and both my partner and I took meds for 2 weeks. |

1) try not to use soap or bath products there because this can change the balance of yeast.
2) avoid wearing tight trousers |

you should go to another doctor...maybe this time take your partner with you so both of you can get tested for S.T.D. |

It just sounds like thrush, and the reason that it keeps coming back can be for a number of different reasons, some are as easy as changing the soap you use of even your toilet paper, try using soap and toilet paper that is not perfumed and white only, the chemicals in the coloured toilet paper and soap is not agreeing with your body. And old wife's tale say that you have to try and put natural yogurt on for a while to take the itchiness away.
If it persist go see a doctor
You can also try canestan C available at any pharmacy |

Has your boyfriend been treated for thrush too? If not then he could be reinfecting you with the thrush each time you have sex. You may also have cystitis too.
You can get cystitis remedies from your chemist BUT make sure your boyfriend treats himself for thrush as you may well have caught it off him. If he wont treat himself then refuse to have sex with him until he does. |

This is proabably Thrush and without getting your partner treated or wearing protection you won't clear it.
I am amazed to read the lack of understanding in some people, and that some even say that Thrush only effects the mouth!!! it is a yeast infection and as you have been told no tight fitting clothes and only wear cotton undies.
if you are at all unsure your local chemist can advise or even ring NHS Direct. Maybe get your doctor to take a swab and send it off to be checked.
It is awful and scratching only makes things worse!!! |

I can relate to what your saying . I am plagued by one infection after another I suffer with thrush but also some other repeating infection . (not STI before anyone wonders )
. All you can do is keep going back to your Dr's to make sure it is thrush and treat it accordingly. if your not happy with your doctors I suggest you find another one .
Try to eat healthy, drink plenty of water and avoid using soaps etc down below . Try to be as lubricated as possible before you have sex that may make it less painful . best of luck it's a pain and get on my nerves as well. |

It does sound like thrush and you could keep getting it from your bf. If you aren't happy with your doctor go and see your local GUM clinic, they are sometimes listed in your local paper or contact the hospital to see where and when they are held. They are proffesionals in these sorts of infection and will be able to give you advice on how to stop getting it. |

If you are not happy with the doctor you have visited already, then try a different doctor. A doctor is a highly qualified individual who has had several years training and passed horrendously difficult exams to achieve their current position. If I had a medical problem, I would not consider Yahoo! Answers to be an appropriate place to get advice |

you either have thrush or an internal infection
try canestan - tablets and ointment and if it still doesn't work see doc again or see doc straight away
very common! get better soon!
p.s. your partner should also get treatent as he may be passing it back to you

im not a doc or anything, but thrush happens when you have taken too much antibacterials for other ailments in the last year, it is a buildup of yeast....
also, do you douche (no joke), I think it can cause this |

First, get another doctor. Thrush is a fungus in the mouth. So it is not connected to the private areas.
Possible:
Trichomoniasis (trich)
Symptoms: A frothy, yellow-green discharge; a musty odor; bleeding after sex.
How you get it: Trich is the most common curable STD in young, sexually active women and is caused by a parasite that passes from partner to partner. Like BV, the infection is linked to preterm delivery and low birth weight. Men may experience itching or burning after urination or ejaculation but are often asymptomatic, which may be why trich is easily spread.
What to do: See your gyno. Trich can be cured with a single dose of the antibiotics tinidazole or metronidazole. Your partner should seek treatment too.
THIS IS A GYN ISSUE |

well, it sounds to me like you have a bacterial infection. Does the discharge have a strange odor? If so, you definitely do. The only thing that can fix this is antibiotics. But if you take them it shouldn't come back for awhile if ever. Hygiene and your partners hygiene are very important as well. to keep as much bacteria out as possible. Anything that touches your privates should be cleaned and sanitized after every use. |

People mainly get thrush on their tongues. (thrush=yeast infection on tongue.)
You have a yeast infection in your (down there) area. You seriously need some antibiotics, girl!
Go to a better doctor next time and ask for antibiotics.
