I started selling sex toys,or what I prefer to call them, intimacy enhancements, last August. I wasn't doing it to open a business; I was just disgusted after going to one of the naughty girl parties.
I won't mention the name of the company, but it was your typical catalog company. One of my associates was having the party, and it had a small and intimate turn out. I ordered some things like oils and massage products, but no toys. My bill came to roughly $90.00, and I had buyer's remorse, so I called and cancelled my order. I told my friend that she should cancel her order, because her toy was $125.00, but online it was $40.00.
Another friend told me that she was interested in buying some toys, and I told her about the site that I saw toys for just a fraction of the cost of what they were at the party. I told her that we should just buy some things and have our own party; we did.
First of all, I ended up paying for the products all by myself, so I was out of a nice bit of money; however, I made most of it back the night of the party. Since I had products left over, I decided to look for a few more things and have another party. I stumbled upon a person whose store was going out of business, and I bought a ton of products. I was starting something new.
I am not a business; I am woman who is passing on the savings that I bought on sale; I am sharing the knowledge that I have obtained from months of research. And, I have had 2 parties and 2 presentations (selling at someone else's event). Now, I am in a slump; I am waiting for someone to want a party. I have networked, and I think that what I have and what I do in more original than teaming up with some of those businesses.
My products are a 3rd of what they cost in stores, online stores, and consultant businesses. I have the products on site, and whatever sells out, it is out. I am not a business, I don't re-stock, and I have instructions on how to purchase items, and I teach women about maintaining a healthy body while using adult products.
I am able to work when I want, and I am having fun doing it.
I would suggest that you do alot of research, not only on opening a business, but also on the actual products. Everything that glitters is not gold, and every product is not as user friendly as advertised. |
