Nope.......Sounds like she is a mean person and your better off not having to deal with her.
I know what you mean on how it bugs you though. I was fired a couple of years ago for missing 20 days of work with a doctors note for a minor back surgery in Janurary. The thing is though, they didn't fire me for this untill April! After I was back for 2 months! Can you believe that!? (The real reason they fired me though was because I complained about people that they like as "pets" so to speak. Their work was shoddy and they were lazy and I'd had enough. I know this is the real reason. It has to be. But, that is what they told me. For the days I missed. Even though I had a doctors note. Oh well. Jobs come and go.) |

fired? Sorry but your descriptions makes you seem like a teenage boy walking dogs on his spare time to be nice
Some people are just stubborn (her)
Anyways, just find someone new to walk their dog, btw asking others to name their price is nice |

Sorry my man,
I would have fired you too. What she said was right, you did act unprofessional. If you dont know what you are charging for a service dont offer it. When people ask that question to me I say, I love that you do charity work.
If you are going to act professional you need a price. Now where you messed up is where she said I will pay you 7.75 today. You took it, you never should have if you wanted 15.00 bucks.
Count it as a lessoned learned. But I totally agree with the lady, you dont change it the next day. Not that soon.
Look at it this way what if she paid you 7.75 and the next day she said okay I retought that its only worth 3.35 what would you do? Nuf Said. |

hm, i don't think you should of been fired.
she basically told you to choose your own price.
but i guess it also depends on how much of a raise you asked for.
i mean, if it was just a few bucks she shouldn't care.
& if she couldn't afford anymore she should of just said, "hey, you know, i really can't afford anymore then $7.25 right now,"
& then be done with it. |

Yes, you messed up...but its ok. we all do a mess up here and there.
Let me see if I can help you see it by looking at each point chronologically.
1. You didn't know how much to charge.
2. Your customer offered an amount she was willing to pay for such a service.
3. You accepted, and walked the dog.
4. end of business transaction
5.You decided what your new going rate will be.
6. all customers from here on out are effected by said new rate.
I'm in the printing business...if I decide that I'm going to raise my business cards from $66 to $85 ....does that give me the right to go back and bill all my previous clients the extra $19 ?
From your customers perspective, this is what you did. |

Seems to me that you should have already had your price figured out before you even talked to her to begin with,id have canned you too.
thats like hiring a contractor to do a remodeling job,and once its completed he raises the price, thats BS.
IF she paid you once,at your set price, and then the next time you told her the price would go up,then its her loss, dont sweat it,move on,whats the big deal anyways?theres lots of dogs out there... |

Well, she was goofy! But since you let her set the price the first time, she thought she should get to set the price from then on. Don't feel bad. You just got off to a bad start. I would say, she was unprofessional for scolding you and then firing you when you took her advise. Just goes to prove that you can never please some people. By the way, I get after my hubby for doing similar things like hiring someone to do some work and not agreeing on a price before the work starts. After it is done is no time to negotiate. He has been in business over 40 years and should know better. You have learned a hard lesson. Always ask what you want because you may have to settle for a lesser price. People like to bargain you down, so start high. |

I wouldn't call being dumped from dog-walking "fired," but.... you didn't have a contract agreeing to future walks, and you never negotiated a price for future walks, and seeing how you took a lower price at an earlier date, asking for more after accepting the lower price (only because you were unprepared) WAS unprofessional. it was nice of you to try and make amends, but "nice" and "income" rarely mesh. |

You shouldn't have been fired, but you also shouldn't be asking for a raise on the second day of work. |

she was telling you for future reference since you already told her to just name her price.
Your loss.
Next time tell them your going rate and if they disagree then ask for their best offer. |
