I found that a good old fashion cattle pod will do the trick. But don't over do it or they will pass out and production will drastically drop. |

Yes, send out a memo stating that the beatings will continue with the potential of being sent to the hole for 40 days if morale does not improve. |

Have you ever heard the saying "The beatings will continue until morale improves!" I say YES,the worst that could happen is you lose your job and/or your company in a nasty law suite. |

you will get more bees with honey than you will with chit. try buying them donuts or pizza a couple of times that will show you care . thus boost productivity. |

The best way to boost productivity is to give your employees a good work environment. Letting them feel like they have a say in decisions will boost their confidence and make them feel that they are more then a person in a cubical. Have staff meetings to give them a chance to do so and also to let them bring to attention problesm they might have. Many times employees can bring to the table ideas that you may not have thought of.
Give them freedom to move about and trust them to do the right thing. Be positive and do not make them intimidated. If you are more approachable and closer to their level, they will feel that you trust them which will give them a reason to do what they need to do.
If you treat adults like teenagers who slack off, they will behave as such. Be positive, try not to reprimand but instead notice the mistake and ask them what they think should be done in this situation. The best leaders are those who help everyone to acheive the goal by being one of the team, not just the one in charge.
Providing a casual work envinronment will pay off better then any dumb office party or cake for insentive. Honestly, would a cake or party with people you see everyday really inspire you? You will gain their respect more by making their work place a home away from home. |

why beat them. try to motivate them by giving incentives like money or anything that is valuable to them. never beat them or else they would go away |

No.
Try incentives like cakes and biscuits, a drink after work, a corporate jolly somewhere nice.
Failing that, try the threat of redundancy. |

Yer Y not!! instead of fag brakes, change them to 'work or you will get chased around and beaten with a stick' breaks. As soon as they arrive for work you could make them run to their desk (chase them with your stick) and at home time, try to keep them their holding your stick at the doorway. This should increse productivity, but only in the short term |

We've thought about instituting that policy in our workplace. However, we learned that it was not only illegal, but probably wouldn't keep employees here very long.
Seriously, a comprehensive and policeable bonus scheme will probably work better. 5% perks in pay for bettering the 100% target might be the ticket. |

NO! Sticks inevitably leave bruises, which would be considered proof to a workmen's compensation board. If you are hell-bent on beating them, I suggest rubber hoses - they sting but seldom leave a mark. A far more modern alternative is to use electric cattle prods. |

It is not a good idea and might create injuries which will actually slow donw productivity and expose you to legal risks and potential work stoppage due to strikes. Better to offer them a safe working environment, training opportunities and eventually the ability to balance life and work. |
