What you should feel guilty about is posting a question that has no basis in reality. |

you shouldn't do it, but not because of guilt
employees in this situation will NOT follow a logical thinking that you are a hard working old bird and deserves a nice car. they are much more like thinking that you are a prick that has an easy life
my father was an engeener. when he went to the office he drove a nice car, to show status to the big shots, but when he went to a construction site he drove my mom's small car, so the employees won't think he is a fat cat |

You shouldn't. If you pay them the going rate and you treat them well, offering them opportunities where possible, then you're a good employer.
Not everyone has what it takes to start and run their own business, and not everyone is prepared to take the risks and stress that comes with it. You obviously are, and as such, are entitled to the rewards that follow. |

You shouldnt if that was the case Bill Gates should feel like SH*T. As well as hundreds of other CEOs. They are employees not partners in your business. I dont know anyone who would think other wise.
Now if your business is booming and it is because of the quality of work performed by your employees they may feel like they deserve a raise due to the growing profits. But you said you pay them good so there should be no problem. Congrat on you success I love those new Cadi's they look awesome!! |

What is a junker to one person is reliable transportation to another. If you pay a fair wage, (which I can't judge..you don't mention, and I don't know if they are professionals, unskilled or other..), then you should not feel guilty.
I'm one of those who would rather drive my 10 yr, no bluebook value, low insurance rate car than spend the money on a fancy car even if I can afford it. It's just not a priority for me..everyone prioritizes their money differently. If your priorities are on fancy cars recognize it for what it is, a personal lifestyle choice.
And I agree that a business owner who takes a risk is entitled to a little extra..because they earn it. However to me, part of the appeal of owning a business would be being able to be a positive force in many lives providing quality employment, giving others the means to use their skills and make a comfortable living for their families. This is good morale..if your driving something extravagant is bad for morale (I'm sure it will become evident soon), then it's bad for business because your people make the business. |

You admitted yourself your employees could never afford your life style and you pay them a good wage (that is your opinion. they may feel very different and you will never know.) If you are sincerely that concerned with there feelings why flaunt your new toy in there face? You are attempting to justify this with the number of years you have put into the business. No one can take that away from you and you obviously deserve some treats after all of the years you have dedicated into growing your business. That is not an easy task. However, not every boss goes around flaunting what they have either. Drive something more conservative to work and save your escalade for your own personal use. |

Why do employees have to be on the same level/comparable level as the boss? Some people drive junkers because they don't take care of their stuff. Don't feel guilty about buying a new car.
As for the environment, do take that into consideration. After all, the next generation will be inheriting the earth and do you want to pass of a run down planet or one in at least as good of shape when you got to use it? |

You're just a nice person thinking of others first. I overthink stuff like that all the time and get stressed out by being too corteous. You earned it and if you treat your guys well, they know you earned it too. |

As long as you are fair and equal employer, I say no don't feel guilty. You paid your dues to get where you are, so who cares. I'm going to grad school next year, and as much money as I'm putting out for school, it better pay off. I luv cadillac's I will be driving a escalade a year after i graduate which will be before I'm 30. you like the finer things and if you can afford it go ahead, what else you gonna do with your money.
As long as your humble and grateful, go head and spend that money, don't forget charties and giving back, if you got it like that :)
Your dedicated to your job, or at least good it.. lol Don't worry bout what they think. Good luck at 25+ lol more years at ya job. I'll see you on the road in 4 years with our escalades lol |

Do not listen to that liberal hippie douche. If you want to buy an Escalade and you have the financial means to do it then go ahead and do it. Don't feel sorry if your employees can't afford one. They probably expect you to drive a nice car. |

BC an escade is excessive when u could save money on fuel and contribute better to the economy by driving an eco friendly care instead of a gas guzzler escalade. ur guilt is probably of how ur destroying the environment |
