I'm starting a brand new business and would like to keep the start up costs low.I have no experience with website design.I love some of the pre made templates that I've come across that range around $50-70, however I don't have the time or experience even to work with these.
Any helpful suggestions as to whether I should hire an affordable web designer(some online "start at" $199.) or try to just go with a pre made template.....???

Try www.homestead.com. They have a number of templates there and you can start your website quite easily. They do hosting for around $5. a month. You can try them for 30 days for free.
A template is quite easy to change to your needs if you take a little time to learn the 'language'. You can ask questions of others here on how to do something to make the change, or look at another person's website, view their source code, see how they did it and copy.
You can do. I did, so can you. :-) |

Why build a site when you can build a business? I used the Site Build It product - see link below.
It gave me hosting, templates, freedom to customize the templates if I wanted (but I didn't need to), search engine optimization, a business model, how to sell e-goods and hard goods, shopping cart, easy to add photos, video etc etc etc.
In less than 3 months I have a site up and running with over 40 pages, I am making a profit, am ranking on the first page of search results at Google and Yahoo, and I was a total newbie!
