I am teaching my 6 children to OWN their own business. I would never suggest that anyone work for someone else. (Well, if you are looking for good quality of life) My children are still fairly young, but they all know that one day (after college) they will all be business owners.
You may have to work harder at first if you own your own business. BUT, that is why I would suggest looking into an MLM, Network Marketing, company. They pay residual income and if you work hard at first, you can build your business to where you never have to work again.
I suggest that you find a company that is on the ground floor with a product that is in demand. Timing is everything!
I came across a business opportunity I couldn't pass up. It's a product that everyone uses and the company is EXPLODING! It's on track to be the fastest growing company in the history of the US.

if you have the startup capital, skills, manpower and other resources required to do whatever business you want to - then start your own business.
however, if you are missing one of the elements then work on getting all the pieces together. in the mean time working isnt a bad idea.
but with all that said, having your own business rules and nothign beats it! |

If you're completely comitted and ready for a big challenge, you should start a business; it's much more exciting and there are more prospects in it, but you have to consider carefully the plans for the business. You have to keep in mind that many businesses fail quickly, so you definitely have to put in a lot of work and have a good business plan. If you're not willing to take the risks of business, you should aim for what you think is the best job in the world and if you put in enough hard work you will get there. Good luck with whatever you choose. |

Well it all really depends, do you have the money to start a business? I f not then you should work and save up the money. Do you have a degree in business? If not then go to college and get one. Also if you uhh decide to start a business in the music department and you need like somebody to work on/sell guitars email me. |

Excellent question. However, in order to answer you, there are several things I need to know:
1. What is your area of expertise? Do you plan to stay in your current field and, if yes, does your current profession lend itself to self-employment?
2. Do you have the drive, personality, and background to own your own business? By this I mean:
-- are you a driven person who thrives on working independently and who is extremely self-motivated?
-- Do you have an outgoing personality that will be required to sell and deal with the public?
-- Do you have a business background that is broad enough to handle start-up activities, finance, sales, production, etc.?
3. Finally, do you have the finances to carry you until you can get your business on its feet?

Starting a business is a lot more work than a normal 9-5 job. I'm not really sure someone who has to ask a question like this even has the entrepreneurial spirit and leadership ability to succeed being their own boss. Are you going to come on Y/A! every time you have to make a decision for this business? Seriously. |

That really depends on what type of characteristics you poses, running your own business is a big responsibility, from self-employment to corporate, it is not any easier. Why do you want to go into business for yourself? Have you done all the appropriate research on the sort of business you intend to run, you know a business plan, like the kind you would present to a bank or your City's Community and Economic Development Dept., in order to obtain a loan. First, Business Plan, and if you can't handle that, forget about it, hit the classifieds. j/k There are a lot of resources available to help if this what you really want to do. Well, what do you like doing? Is there something that you have knowledge or a desire to do? What's important to you in choosing how to make an income?
For me, I had to ask myself a lot of questions.....I had a criterai built as to what would be acceptable to me and what wouldn't and you will want to do that for yourself as well. For example:
- Do you want everything to operate from home? Or do I want to put up with bosses and management.
- Do you want the freedom of choosing your own hours and days?
- Do you want to do direct sales or not be it at home or making money for someone else?
- Do you enjoy doing home demo parties or would you rather that never happen?
- What kind of start up costs are you comfortable with if you chose to start your own business?
- Is a residual income important to you or are you happy with a trading time for money situation like a typical job?
I could keep going here but I think you get my drift? From here you should be able to look at all sorts of opportunities and narrow it down to one that you feel really good about!
I also suggest that when you explore the opportunities that look exciting to you that you really take your time.....look at them inside and out and if everything is above board and honest and you really love the journey that you're about to embark on....go for it and have a great time with your new love!
