Starting an airline.....Whats the best way to get a plane?
If your have limited funds of money (basicaly not alot) what is the best way to start an airline in terms of getting a plane? e.g. wet lease, dry lease, Buy a plane etc.
Your first point of call is to make your company procedures manual. You have to have this huge document that outlines all the procedures to be undertaken by staff, pilots etc. These are technically legal documents and cost a fortune to write and are very rarely accepted by the CAA on the first submission. You should talk with the CAA who will help you with this procedure. Depending on the type of aircraft you want to operate, then you can lease it, purchase and import from the states where they appear to be cheaper. But of course you have the insurance costs to negotiate, airfield to find that give you the best customer access and so on. Richard Branson said that the best way to become a millionaire in the airline industry was to first become a billionaire in something else. It's a tough game although it's likley to be marginally easier with the open skies treaty.

Actually the first thing you should do is develop a business plan and model so you have something to persuade backers to finance you.
Be prepared to have the security services interested - they are a bit touchy about strange people buying planes these days
Tim
You would have to look at the terms of the wet or dry lease and then compare to fuel costs and economy of the plane.
To buy a plane would require too much capital to be tied up. A lease would be the preferred method, but the terms will dictate whether wet or dry.

look at what virgin man branson did, plenty clues there...
Lord drydreamer of that ilk
Wet or dry lease is the least of your problems getting a licence from the c.a.a. to carry fare paying passengers is the first expensive hurdle you will face then there is the established carriers who will attempt to put a block on your landing rights at any airfield you want to fly to etc.
Balloonatics
You need to fly out of less well known airfields to keep fees down.
CAA licensing is EXPENSIVE and BUREAUCRATIC beyond belief.
But hey if you are successful and need apilot then let me know

Stupid questions require Stupid answers.
First of all try building one from paper, there are plenty of books.
After you have mastered that then try Ebay, you may get one for 99p but I would imagine that postage and packaging would be rather expensive...
Oxidising Hands
I know it sounds stupid but try eBay.
