Stay at Home Mom......................... Question?
I have been a stay at home mom for 15 years. I am really wanting to do something with my time now that both my girls are in school full time. I have created a website for my husbands chainsaw carvings, but am needing to do more to earn my own money. I have seen several ads that say you can work from home and make money. I am worried about getting involved with something like that just because you hear so much about scams. Would anyone in the forum have any advice or ideas for me. It would be great to find a legitimate work at home opportunity. Are any of you involved in something like that? Any ideas?? Thank you!

Try a part-time job during the day.

A lot of the work-at-home positions don't make most people enough money.

Unstoppable Dreams
I can not give you any advice about a work at home job. However, there are many great ideas when it comes to creating your own business. One of which you already have experience. Website development. If done correctly, a website can create good income.

BEST WISHES!

P.S.
I would also like to congratulate you on your dedication to your family. My wife is a stay at home mother as well. My hat's off to you. Anyone knows a stay at home mom is a 24/7 duty.

I too was a stay at home Mom, but my girls are grown now. I chose to start a home based business which is quite different from a work at home job.
What I like about a home business is you are given the tools and the training to start earning an income. There are people in place to help you every step of the way because let's face it, most of us housewives do not have the business skills it takes to really make a go at a business. With a home business, they teach you from the ground up and you soon pick up the skills, especially once you start receiving cheques, that is the real motivator!
I have a few home businesses you may want to have a look at and see if there is something that captures your interest.

I have some resources that I use when looking for work at home jobs. One is http://www.wahm.com message boards where you can network with other work at home people and get information about working at home. The other is http://www.workathomedesk.com which is a free site I use frequently for job leads and they also have a wonderful directory of companies that hire home workers. I hope this helps you get going in the right direction. Good luck!

my friends mom is a stay at home mom. she dose ebay and there is a place in our community that is like a yard sale where you sell your things but it is indoors and there are ALOT of people there. its like have i miny store or shop. she makes around $500 a week and rent is $100 its really easy. although she goes out to yard sales and buys new or used items and re-sales them. just dont let it get to out of hand if you do choose to do this. she and my mom did this and made $1000 a month and would split the profit 50/50. it worked out really well

I may be able to help! I don't know what your interests are but I'm a work at home mom with Latasia jewelry and it works for me! I'd love to share the details about my business with you. Latasia is a fantastic, small, (but growing!) family owned company that has been around for over 15 years. The jewelry is beautiful, the people are great and the commissions are super! As a Latasia designer, you are your own boss...You work your own hours, and the sky is the limit on how much you can earn. I can even help you get started for free!

If jewelry isn't your thing, there are lots of real home based businesses out there. Many of the work at home mom (wahm) websites have a lot of great information on them.

My contact info and website address are available on my profile. Please feel free to contact me and I'll be happy to help in any way I can! :)

Good luck!
Kim

I researched on my own for quite a while to find a work at home job. And the other responders are right--really it is not so much work at home jobs that you want, but a home-based business. You can put in as much work as you want, but you have to be dedicated. Go to your local library and check out their section on home-based businesses. There are some great books to get you started, like "101 Home-Based Businesses for Women" or "Weekend Home-Based-Businesses." These gave me a lot of great ideas for starting a business from home. Most ads for work-at-home jobs are scams, so just be sure to do a lot of research before making a decision.

I help folks get healthier using a Nutritional Cleansing product that really, truly does work.
It can be done part-time or full time, whatever your schedule allows.

Happy to share more, just send me an e-mail.

Congrats for being a stay at home mom. This is the most underappreciated job in the world.
Since the girls are in school now, why not look for a job outside of the home. YOu could work part time and return home in time for the girls to get home from school.

I would think that the majority of work from home positions that are advertised on here are scams and/or do not pay enough to make them worth your time. many require a fee for your participation and make promises that they do not or cannot deliver.

however, maybe you could create your own position.
You stated that you just designed a web page for your husband. Maybe you could do that for others.....
Another possibility is ebay.
While you are at home you can go thru your things and clean out your closets of unused/unwanted goods and sell them for some extra cash.
Best of luck to you

If may not be a lot of money, but I have made about $40/month for the past 4 months with Inbox Dollars. I am an honest person, and am not ‘selling’ anything.

This is just from my personal experience making money on the computer from home.

The best way that I have found to be free during the day to take care of kids, is a company called Pure Romance. We are an in home party plan that caters to women. I get to make a full time income on just 6 hours a week (3 hours away from home, 1 night per week), but you can work more or less depending on your needs.

I have been with Pure Romance for 2 years now & I love my job! I get paid to party! You get to laugh and tell stories. And when you do spend time away from your children it is quality adult time. Best of all, you make up to $200 an hour! Can't beat that.

I'd love to chat with you about if Pure Romance could work in your life. I have helped lots of women achieve their career goals with this company. Please visit my website for more information, including my phone number if you want to call me with questions.
