Hey man, I'm from Merrillville/Crown Point, and every summer, even in college, I worked for the city. Just go to the munincipal building and ask for applications to work for Public Works. I worked for Public Works in Crown Point for 6 summers, and it was great. You get to work outside everyday, and you get paid pretty good, plus weekends off. You can do Parks dept., which is going around to all the parks and mowing grass, fixing the playground stuff, basically just jack around all day and do a little bit of work. I worked for the Street Dept., which pours sidewalks, blacktops roads, cuts down trees, etc. I knew 3 guys that worked for the Merrillville Public Works and they all loved it. Also, I worked part-time during school and they usually bump you to full time in the summer, usually 7-4 with an hour lunch 5 days a week, no weekends. Just a suggestion. GO CUBS!!! |

Think summer. You could work at an amusement park, golf course, baseball field, state park. All are most likely part time and some you would be able to carry through school.

Well Ben I hear you about food service.
How about a landscaping company? You would need a lawn mower to start, and other tools can be acquired as you need them.
Older ppl who garden would pay for you to shovel or move dirt, cut their lawn, shovel their walks, rake leaves etc. |
