if you have the reciept you are entitled to a refund |

You're 'not' entitled to a refund unless the item is faulty. They might be nice and issue you a refund, they don't even have to let you swap the item. That is usually company policy though of them being nice. |

I think by law that they do not have to give you your money back unless the item is faulty, but will give you a credit note to purchase another item. Some shops will give you the cash back. It's discretionary.
Good luck |

as long as it is not damaged and you have the receipt, they should be able to take it back.
some shops though, offer only exchange, so you best to ask first. you might be able to get a smaller size. |

It's a worth a try. Just tell them what you've told us. |

check the store returns policy. some stores have a 28 day money back with receipt policy so if its within this time then you should get a full refund |

Previous posters are wrong. They don't have to give you your money back unless the goods are faulty. It was your mistake after all. Shops usually give a credit note in these situations. |

You can ask for your money back , don't accept a credit note , by law you are entiled to your cash , unless paid by card , then the purchase has to be refunded to the card |

Try this website - it's a UK.gov site and give you all the info you need regarding your rights as a customer : -
http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/action/detail?type=RESOURCES&itemId=1073792594
Edit:1
The following info is cut&paste from the above site : -
Your customer's rights
When customers purchase goods from you they're legally entitled to expect certain things. Under the Sale of Goods Act:
Goods must be "fit for their purpose". If people buy a pen, for instance, it must be capable of writing. But this requirement also means that if a customer tells you they want an item for a particular purpose, you should tell them if you have doubts about its suitability.
Goods must be of "satisfactory quality" - they must be durable, safe and free from minor, as well as major, defects.
If goods don't meet these criteria, purchasers can claim a refund if they haven't already "accepted" them. Customers accept goods if they tell you they've accepted them, alter the goods or keep them for a reasonable length of time. They can't, however, reject goods simply because they've changed their mind.
Though customers can't claim a refund after accepting goods, they can claim compensation. This can be monetary but could be the repair or replacement of goods. If your customer is a consumer - an individual not acting in the course of business - they can specifically ask for a repair or replacement.
All customers have up to six years to claim compensation (in Scotland, five years from discovery of the problem). The exact amount of time depends on the product, though it's for your customer to prove it was faulty when sold. But if your customer is a consumer and asks for a repair or replacement during the first six months after sale, it's up to you to prove the goods weren't faulty.
Goods should also correspond with the description you give, whether it's verbally, in writing or in an illustration. If they don't, your customer can take similar remedies to those described above. It's also an offence under the Trade Descriptions Act to describe goods misleadingly.
Good luck. |
