Yes a CUSTOMER is always right (to buy from you) ;-)
A person that comes up to you & gives abuse is not a customer. They deserve to get their change (abuse back)! |

No..they are not always right..this is usually said by the BIG bosses of shops who don't have to deal with rude customers.
I once had a lady who insisted she had given me a £20 note and ranted and raved at me..I let her carry on..then opened up the till to show her that the till did not have a £20 note in it( It was early morning) she did not apologise..but other customers smiled and winked at me. Some customers are just rude. I smile..keep polite..they look idiots in end. If I had given in and given change for £20...you can garuantee the big bosses would have questioned the till being wrong at end of day. |

No way is the customer always right.
The people who say it are generally the managers...the ones that dont have to sit on the phone all day taking verbal abuse
from the customer, who was wrong in the first place!! |

I had someone recently say it to me when I was ordering in a Dunkin Donutis. I asked if I could get something with skim, and the woman behind the counter said, "you are the customer, you can have whatever you like."
There are many times when I think that sometimes though the customer is rude and the employee doesn't know how to properly serve the customer making for an explosive situation. |

You have to do everything in your power to keep the customer happy so they come back to YOUR business.
This is a little outdated, more often than not, people ***** to get free stuff. |

Well all of the answers are correct you should know the rule Stew Leonard has and his business is very successful.
He has two rules as follows:
Rule #1. The customer is always right.
Rule #2. When the customer is wrong, refer to rule#1. |

Not entirely right. Customers are the ones who pay you money to exchange goods and services from you. They expect the goods are in good condition and the service they received is good enough. But sometimes, some 'bad' customers complain this and that in order to bully and take advantage of you. You have to be clear of the whole situation when transactions occur and you also have to make sure that the customers are satisfied. While you are doing business, bear in mind that cheating the customers will get you into a lot of trouble. |

you, as a businessman, must strictly follow this statement even if it is not strictly true always, simply because there is no business without customers. |

It used to be said a long time ago, When the customer, was treated as a priority. Like everything this has changed over the years as no-one seems to have any respect for anyone else. You will find in all shops the assistants who are civil ,and assistants who couldn't give a toss. |

yes n no, depends on how you handle the situation. if you are right dont tell the customer directly that he/she is wrong... its all about tact and smile.....try it....if your job depends on it than it depends on you to say yes his right or no his wrong? all depends on you n your current situation! |

they are not, but you need to keep your customers so they keep doing business with you. No customers means no business |

Of course the customer is not always right. It's said because you don't want to tick customers off normally and you want to make them happy so they do business with you. It's a simple catch phrase employers tell employees so they don't "argue" or such and remember that without customers, you have no business.
However, there are a number of people who are just nuts. There are the unreasonable. There are the customers who are more trouble than they are worth. A smart businessman will send those folks packing, hopefully in a nice way, so he can be more productive and with fewer headaches. They may even find a good match at some other place to do business with. |
