If you want to set up a limited company, check out Companies House to see whether the name you'd like is available. After that, follow the guidance from Companies House. You need a set of Memorandum and Articles of Association - your can buy a set from a legal stationer - someone to act as a director (probably yourself) and one other person as Company Secretary. (They can't be the same person.)
If you don't want a limited company, check the telephone book for names and choose something that isn't going to be confused with anyone else. Sort out your plan of what you're going to do and do it.

Then the rest depends on the size of the business, premises etc. If it's just you you can trade as a sole trader. |

To actually setup the entity or to start conducting business?
As StickyRicky says... just do it, basically... don't get bogged down in websites, bank loans, BusinessLink, it's all prevarication... just do what you do... you don't NEED to do anything other than provide the service - you don't even need a name, so you only need to consider those things that enable you to provide that service. |

Just go for it, try thinking of a name for your company, then tag line, get a business plan made out, get a website, I use http://www.carboncookie.com website builder which means I can forget about high website design costs and concentrate more on other important things.
