I use pallets for repairing sheds, and other things on my farm , we dismantle them ,there is a whole lot of recyclable wood in those things. 1"x4" and 2"x4''s. We have burned broken pieces for heat, and we have given away wood to friends. I have several sheds that I have re sided with pallet wood. I have also made several pieces of furniture with the wood. Tables, a chair or two, picture frames., flower boxes...etc... I also have a white (pallet) picket fence around my garden spot !
If you think about it the list of things that can be done with used pallets is endless. I would much rather recycle the wood and save a few trees. The only way to be Eco friendly with pallets is to recycle them.
Here locally, there are several "pallet" companies that will buy your used pallets and recycle them or sell them for a small profit
. Look in your local Yellow pages under salvage or pallets. I am sure there are ones in your area too.
Although I really don't know exactly how Eco friendly they are. |

Check your local Allotment sites (if you have any) most allotment holders will be glad of them to make fences, gates, compost bins etc.
My allotment fences are made from them as are my compost bins. |

Why don't you advertise?
In our town, there's a regular little network of people who collect pallets (for free) from local businesses and resell them for $5 a pop to a pallet manufacturing company. You might also call around to local grocery stores to find out how they recycle their pallets, they may have a contact name for you. |

Most delivery companies want these as they can be easily reused. Try contacting local businesses you think use them and see if they want them. Otherwise you should contact a wood recycling centre, they generally turn it into wood chippings or shavings to be reused. Many companies will be happy with a regular supply of these you just come to an arrangement. |
