What are some reasonably priced alternatives to selling on eBay?
I can't justify paying eBay such large commissions. EBay buyers always want to buy things on the cheap, so if I pay $7.50 for something that I try to sell for $10 on Ebay, I have to pay eBay $1.50 and I take home a whopping $1 before paying for the gas and supplies to mail the item. Is there a similar website that offers a similar service. I used to use eBay when I paid a 6% commission, but I can't afford the increased fees as I would be making eBay money, but I wouldn't make any money for my family.

etsy.com if its hand-made.

Why bother with auctioning your goods and having to pay a sales commission to Ebay? Go for a straight cash-for-sale approach at Craigslist.org which is a totally freebie way of selling your items at what you consider a reasonable price.

Good luck!

Craigslist?

Or something similar? Like where I live we have a mini version of craigslist just for our local area. I'd show the website to you but they close it on Sunday for whatever reasons.

Craigslist.com. Or build your own site and figure out a way to get it advertised. I think you can sell things on amazon as well, not sure how that works though.

yeah, ebay pretty much sucks now. I used to sell there but after the whole feedback fiasco and rate hikes I moved my stuff to ecrater.com and etsy.com (homemade stuff only is allowed on etsy). I've done well at both the only real difference is you have to work harder to promote yourself. I've also sold on craigslist and kijiji.com
If you like the auction format you can try overstock.com They allow users to sell their items in an auction type format very similar to ebays but again you don't get as much coverage so you do have to promote your own stuff.
Eventually I got my own online store and have been doing well there to. Basically if you want to be successful online away from ebay the key is to promote, promote, promote.

Amazon. Craigslist tends to be full of people that can't seem to get a ride to pick up the stuff they want to buy from you.

I would recommend opening your own business using ebay, amazon and craigslist storefronts. Instead of auctioning your products, you should use a fixed yet reasonable market price. Always encourage the following when any purchases are made from you:

a. Encourage purchaser to provide positive feedback, as this will help continued business.
- encourage buyer to contact you prior to posting negative feedback in order to have an opportunity resolve their problems (neutral feedback is perceived as negative)
b. Encourage buyers to visit your actual website for better pricing. Send marketing or promotional materials when purchases are made that inform your customers of your product offerings.
c. Find ways and opportunities to get mailing lists together of your customers. If you ever have any promotions going on you should always send your customers emails letting them know. You of course should follow the common etiquette as well of allowing the customers to be removed from your email list of they desire as well.

These are just a few ideas. Good Luck.

You will never get anywhere selling junk on the internet. Start your own business. I mentor people for free, you are only one choice away from changing your life. I started my own company at the age of 17 and became a millionaire by the age of 25. You can take a chance and email me or just blow me off, it's your life.
