Besides going from person to person,setting up a stand at walmart for people to see it. The only thing I can think of besides going from business to business is advertiseing on my car to draw interest to it. |

Put together a flyer (advertising pamphlet) then buy a mailing list targeting your potential clients. Then mail it out. You should expect maybe two percent of all flyers mailed will generate business. |

Membership dues in your local chamber are an investment that will pay off far beyond the dues money that you spend. The business relationships that you form will over time result in new business that will grow your business. |

Advertising on your car is only a good idea if you have a nice car. If you have a clunker of a car, people will think the same of your business. First what is your target group? Age, sex, race (if it matters) etc. There are companies that sell peoples email addresses and faxes. From there you can devise a email or fax explaining your business and giving out your contact info...What exactly is your business now? |

There are a number of ways.
Mass marketing -- costs money and involves TV, Radio, Print, and Billboards. In my opinion, print is the most effective, but the others work well in combination with print.
Publicity can be free. Find an angle for the local paper, radio station or TV station to write a story on your business. It's new! It's unique! You cater to... You donated your products/services to...
Guerilla marketing -- posters, flyers, tables at Wal-Mart. Identify who you want to sell to - your target market, and figure out how to reach them.
Direct target marketing/mail - expensive, but it hits who you are after.
Most successful companies spend between 1 and 3 percent of their gross annual income on marketing.
Most new companies make the mistake and spend much more than that.
Don't go crazy and print T-shirts, pens, Koozies, mugs, all that. Use that stuff later to reward your regular customers.
Concentrate your marketing on getting to new customers who will spend money. It sucks but you usually have to buy customers. Once you get them its much easier (and cheaper) to keep them. |

Word of mouth, or as you say, "going from person to person" is the most effective way to draw attention to your home based business. The trick is to get referrals from the people you talk to. Getting the referal takes special know how and you can study in books that cover concepts in network marketing. Joining networking groups can help give you exposure, but you'll still need to learn how to get the referal.
You also have to be enthusiastic about your business. An ounce of enthusiam will succeed where a ton of mass advertising has failed.

I have magnets on my car as well and people do call, if I'm on a 3 lane road I stay in the middle so people on both sides can see. But it all boils down to the product or business. You have to have something to tell people that interests them. Jennifer |

How about working at a trade show. Find one where the table fee is cheap.
Advertise at coffee shops and other places that are free.
Join your local Chamber of Commerce. They have several events each month which will help you get attention.
Work at local events - fairs and local community events. Get your own table to hand out info or demo your product.
