Well publicity helps, a lot of the coffee shops here have one of those boards out on the sidewalk with special of the day on it. Try making up those cards that you punch each time a customer makes a purchase or every 5.00 they spend with the reward of a free cup of coffee when its full. Try to get the local paper to do an interview with you about your business. Our local paper talks about new business's or how an old business has improved at least once a month.

Well to start you off, I give you a two thumbs up. (I have a coffee shop too). But, to answer your question, I would use advertisment, and spread the word about your shop. Also, every once and a while throw in a "special type" of coffee, and maybe a special dessert. Hope this helps, and I wish you a Happy New Years! |

I am in marketing and what really works for the merchants that I work with is to offer an "unbeatable offer" that will get people in your shop. Once they are there the cost of whatever you are giving away will be small compared to their customer loyalty that you have. Just think a coupon for a $2.00 dollar scone to go with a cup of your killer coffee you can potentially get a customer for life. |

Marketing and gimmicks. Do you have other stuff besides coffee? Donuts? Sweet Rolls? Are you near a train station? Have a special for commuters, or have a small auxiliary shop within the station. How about newspapers-special, coffee and paper at reduced price? Where are you located in your community and who are your primary/regular customers? Find out from them why they come to your shop and try to expand those ideas. Any way you can get the stay-at-home moms for a coffee break mid morning? Maybe have some activity for the kids so moms can get a break. Do some analysis with your register tapes--when is your shop the busiest? Can you capitalize on that? Are you a loner or a franchisee? If the latter, talk to the marketing person for some ideas. Be sure your place is always clean and neat, and your employees are friendly, and your coffee is always fresh. Dunkin Donuts doesn't let coffee sit more than 30 minutes or so. You need to do some brainstorming. That means don't stifle any ideas. Write them down and think about how you could implement them. |

I'm not sure of the diversity of people in your area, but where I'm at we are over-burdoned with world cultures. I have a friend who id European, and she will use enough coffee tomake two pots but only makes about 4 cups....... It's horrible, but she refuses to drink it any other way. Spoeacialize in various types of coffe for cultures. |

Well..You need to give more input in your question to receive more& useful answers.
1. If your location of your shop is not very promising then you need to advertise more and maybe distribute flyers in universities,schools.
2. Give a personalized touch, For eg: Your employees should be naturally verbose and greet people Good morning, know their names... which would ensure long-term customers. |
