1) First look for the gaps in your market.
In your case your market would be your neighborhood since transportation is usually an issue. The gaps are things people need but can't get easily or have to pay more for than they would like to.
What is your neighborhood like? Do you have a lot of kids on your block? Are there a lot of elderly folks? If so then a snow/lawn care and errands might work.
Look, listen and ask for what people need or are dissatisfied with.

2) Next look at your skills.
- Are you good with kids?
- Are you strong?
- Could you teach someone the basics of using a
computer?
- Can you make a good cup of coffee/tea/lemonade or use a breadmaker?

3) Examine current conditions for your market
Both garage sales and lemonade stands are kind of seasonal. Look also for what people need right now in the winter.

Good luck!

As a single parent, baby sitting. If you are responsible and can show some maturity, baby sitting is the way to go. You can name your own price, watch tv, talk on the phone with your friends, eat whatever food you want. You will have to pay attention to the kid you are watching, but you can still pretty much do whatever you want. Plus, if you do a good job you can get multiple clients and make some decent money without having to work very hard.

You can do some chores for the elderly in your neighborhood if it's approved by your parents. The older ones really need help with mowing there lawn, taking their trash out, washing their car, walking their dog or moving something heavy for them.

Hope it works out for you.
