If I even want to serve them. Lots of low lives who neglect to pay for the service or product you provide.
First rule of business----Get paid!
I see a lot of people answering because they have retail experience. However as a business owner, I can say with complete honesty the following.
The customer is NOT always right.
The customer rarely knows what they NEED.
The customer doesn't care about YOU.
The customer will cheat you faster than a lawyer.
The customer doesn't respect you.
The customer will complain and lie just to get a better deal.
The customer will rob you blind.
Your first responsibility when you OWN your own business is the BUSINESS! If you give them an inch, they will take a mile. You have overhead, insurance, payroll, rent, overhead, and all sorts of permit and licensing fees. Your primary job as a business owner is yourself and your family, thus your business has to be profitable.
You have to treat customers right, no question about that. But you ALWAYS have to keep a keen eye on everyone you deal with.
All the people who care more about the customer than they do the business, I guarantee you, are not the Boss. |

Whilst the bottom line is important and vital to the success of any business, the first and last thing you must do is look after your customers.
Customers are not stupid - they will see through you if all you think about is the bottom line. Be open and honest with your customers. Help them reach a solution to their identified and unidentified needs.
Exceed their expectations and you will have people walking through your door. More customers = more money in the bank.
Always upsell (Maccas are great with this)
A simple formula to increase your profits is to:
* increase your number of customers
* increase the leads your existing customers give you
* increase the frequency with which your customers buy
* increase the average ticket per customer
This will increase your bottom line 10 fold. |

ppl talk to much. i only ask yes or no questions so they dont monopolize my time. that way employer doesnt think its alway social hour. you can be polite without hearing someones life story, not to mention you can get alot more work done. |

Figuring out the need or want and creativly coming up with a solution (product) that will satisfy that need or want.
This question can be answered in different levels depending upon the level of service they expect, type of product, retail or industrial selling......the question is very vague. However, I hope I shed some light on the subject. |

Joking around with them, keep them laughing, so they'll come back. I love to pick with customers and see their laughter. And most of regular customers would come to my store when they saw my truck at work. Otherwise, they were askin where I was. That made me feel good to know that I had loyal customers. |

When dealing with customers, clients, patients etc. I put myself in their position and treat them like I would like to be treated. So far has worked wonders for me. Good luck. |

That a customer is always right and I should never argue with the customer. Deal with the customer with a happy and smiling attitude. I will always remember that I am here because of the customer and not that the customer is here because of me. |
