What do you do when you are cleaning house for some one and you break something?
you don't have a break policy with that person, so what do you do if you break something?

Leave the item prominently displayed on a kitchen counter or table, with a note explaining the breakage. Offer to pay for the replacement (because it WAS your carelessness that broke it), and give the owner a number where you can be reached immediately.

Then you hope that what you broke wasn't something that will cost a year's salary to replace. If the amount quoted seems high to you, ask to see the insurance valuation on the item. Anything that costs over a few hundred bucks should be included in an itemized policy for insurance purposes. If that insurance covers accidental breakage, but there's a deductible, offer to pay the deductible.

And always be prepared for the fact that the home owner may not wish you to return. That supremely ugly vase you broke may be the only keepsake from a much loved grandmother.

Q.S.G
Common courtesy would be to apologize and offer to replace what was broke..Wouldn't you at least expect that same?

Lady_lyn
just be honest and own up to the breakage....if they are any type of boss they would be appreciative with your honestly ....imagine if you didn't tell them....do they just run with the thought maybe you have stole this item???
Accidents happen .... they will understand!

Tell them Your Sorry & Offer 2 Replace it cause that's the only right thing 2 do.

CJ
you should tell them the truth and offer to replace it

chotpeper
apologize and offer to do what they want you to do to make thing right . accidents happen to everyone even if you are careful . i hope they understand after all you are there to help them with there lives . and next time try a different way of cleaning around certain things that won't jeopardize you standings with your clients

tell them what happened and offer to buy a new one. If they want you to get a new one then you are obligated to buy. if they are not worried about it then do not worry about it

it's obvious you have to cover expenses

Brutus
Be responsible and pay for it. Then go and get an insurance policy.

troythom
Tell them. Accept responsibility for your actions and move on. If they find it later (we did) then you will most likely get fired. If you are honest and upfront, chances are you at least get to keep the job. Depends on the employer, value of item, etc...

run to another country.. never come back.. go for plastic surgery.. get a new identity.. and lead a new life.. or well.. you could just replace the item like they said..
