No one seems to remember, but Master P was an ice cream man and even wrote a song about it once. Here are some lyrics....
Before you jump in the game best get one thing understood
If you sellin that ice cream ya got to make sure it's good
Mr. Ice Cream Man or call me Master P
I got that 2 for 3 call me if you need some D
Me and my little brother Silkk we be ballin
Got this thang sewed up from Texas to New Orleans
And in the hood I got ice cream cones, and if fiends
want a lick nothing for free that gonna cost you 20 bones
For y'all ballers that won't wait call on my pager
I got half gallon of milk fool I got 31 flavor
Mr. I-C-E, M-A -N is on the scene
You betta have my fetti if you don't have my ice cream
Master P the Ice Cream Man
Y'all fools betta recognize I'm the real Ice Cream Man
Mr. Ice Cream Man
Master P or call me the Ice Cream Man |

There is a trailer park in my city and once I went in there to see if it is really like the tv show Cops... and it was crazy because there were like 10 trailers with ice cream trucks parked out front. So I guess... if trailer living is your goal... |

An ice cream truck, ice cream, business license. Make sure you are not in anyone else's territory. It could get ugly. |

If you become an ice cream truck driver please do not play loud annoying music. Also please do not come EVERY day. Once a week is enough! There is an ice cream truck that comes through my subdivision every day and plays loud music "do your ears hang low.." over and over again. Also she smokes while driving the truck (bad influence to kids) and is rude to the kids. Her product is often old. |

They can still be found in some areas. If your city allows for it. It could be a very good business. But, I don't have personal experience. It just seems like fairly low overhead. |

The only ice cream truck I ever see anymore is the Schwans company that deals in alot more than just ice cream. You would need a area that has no competition really, has a demographical area with a high kid ratio, be able to get a food permit, have a ice cream truck, and know good locations to run or set up. With the cost of fuel and the cost to keep the freezers going I would think that would be a risky venture anymore especially since most people are not letting thier kids have so much treats anymore with the obesity rates in the US. |

gas prices are too high to be able to turn a good profit. that's why they are almost extinct. nobody wants a business that doesn't make money. |

i doubt that it's worth it anymore - you have to have the right truck with a freezer in it plus a freezer at home - I live in a neighborhood with lots of kids and when I hear the truck coming, it doesn't sound it stops very often, you have to have expensive insurance on the truck, work long hrs every day during summer, plus you only have a 3 month season, but payments on truck 12 months a yr, etc. lots more competition from Water Ice places, plus McDonalds has ice cream cones, etc |

I leased a truck back in the 90's for $100 a day. I bought all of my own icecream which the place I leased the truck from sold it, and made good money doing that. I would have wads of cash, I'm talking thousands by the end of the week. |
