What do you think about Mary Kay coming to India?
Is it a pyramid scam or is it legitimate? The Pink Truth website says it's a pyramid scam and that millions of unsuspecting Indian women will fall prey.

Stung by the Pink Bee
Pink Truth is 100% correct in saying that millions of unsuspecting women in India will fall prey because Mary Kay Inc. has invested a lot of money to study what women need and want. People are people regardless of where they live in the world, and we all have many similar needs and desires. They train their sales force to search for these needs and then to offer Mary Kay as the answer, regardless of the need. Regardless of the need, the answer is always, "That's exactly why you need Mary Kay!" Most of the recruiters have no idea what they are doing, but those at the upper levels hone their skills and are skilled in manipulative techniques of persuasion. They can recruit many people quickly and convince them that they are making their own decision to start with a very high level of inventory. Why Mary Kay and its sales force are under such fire in the U.S. is because of the greedy practice of loading up new consultants with thousands of dollars more inventory that they will realistically sell. The biggest money is to be made by the sales force, especially at the sales director level and above, off these initial inventory purchases. The values of God first, family second, and career third are pushed, but once a woman is signed on, she quickly learns that if Mary Kay is not on her mind 24/7, she will not succeed. If she leaves the company, she will lose all her pink "friends." She will be shunned as an outsider regardless of the length of time she knew these women. She will be strongly encouraged to voice any negativity whatsoever to her upline only who has been trained to turn it back on her, thus often creating feelings of guilt and shame. Many women are left with huge debt, marital problems, and health issues (physical and mental) after their dealings with this organization. The company publishes commission check amounts of its highest paid members but does not disclose the net profit which is significantly less. Some of the products are good, but they are overpriced even at the wholesale level. The 90% buyback guarantee is not made as clear as it should be, and in an effort to avoid chargebacked commissions on returns, some recruiters will be evasive or lie when asked questions about these by people who wish to make use of it. My personal opinion is that Mary Kay is a dangerous cult, even though not all of its members are equally immersed in cult-like activities. Some are normal people happy selling a little here and there. Some are predators with an insatiable appetite for money, power, and recognition. My overall caution to the people of India is to read www.pinktruth.com very thoroughly and know what to watch for so they can truly make informed decisions based on information other than what Mary Kay and its representatives will provide. There is no reason to think that the people of India will experience anything different than those of us in the U.S. They certainly want to do the right thing for themselves, their families, and their fellow citizens. The Pink Truth will keep you free from many potential pitfalls!

Mary Kay is not a pyramid scheme and it is legitimate. If it was a scheme, how could it be around for over 40 years? There are lots of good people in Mary Kay and there are lots of bad people in Mary Kay...just like everywhere else. There is corruption in many, many governments and institutions....that seems to be a little more severe than Mary Kay. There are far worse things than Mary Kay
In Mary Kay, yes there are hard times and slow times, but it is possible to earn money.
It may not be enough to earn a 6 figure income, but enough to have some extra.
In regards to the Pink Truth website, some of the information is valid and worth reading....the rest is toxic negativity. The women who created Pink Truth need to realize that there are so many things worse than Mary Kay. While it is sad that there are some unethical practices going on with some people in Mary Kay Corporate or individual directors, isn't it so much worse that over 3,000 women in this country have lost their sons or husbands or brothers in this war that we are in??? Pink Truth needs to lay off a little and look at what is really important.
The business can work and it is possible to be successful with it.

Mary Kay has a PR machine that never allows for the ability of the average consumer to pierce the pink veil. Mary Kay is a product based pyramd scheme that depends on new recruits to stay afloat. When the US consumer became savvy about Mk tactics, the pool of potential consultants diminished making expansion to overseas markets an absolute necessity. Mary Kay means wealth for the Top of the Pyramid and financial disaster for all others. As long as Indian women love to deceive and take advantage of each other, Mary Kay will do just fine.

Mary Kay is not a pyramid scheme!!! Anyone who says it is does not know the facts. The new sales consultant all the way to the top national sales directors make the same amount of money on product sales. We by directly for $1 and sell for $2 you do not need to earn the discount or recruit to get it.
You can read and believe gossip if you want. if you are interested in the facts you will find Mary Kay to be a well respected Company the has given many women a chance to change their lives. Mary Kay Ash was awarded may prestigious awards from the business community outsiders have written books about her and her business plan is taught at Harvard. Har charitable foundation gives millions to shelter and programs to end domestic violence and as well as cancer research.

My husband is Indian and I am so excited we are coming to India most of his family is still there.

Mary Kay Inc. is not a pyramid. It is a legitimate company that Mary Kay Ash started from her dream. That dream was shared with millions of other women to fulfill their dreams. There is unlimited growth potential and unlimited money making potential.

Just like any job, you have to go to work to make money. You have to invest in your job to have a customer base. Wishing or sitting and waiting for something to fall in your lap to make you rich, will never work. Making Mary Kay your job is a wise investment and something you have to work at in order to make your dreams come true. You can make your dreams come true faster through your own Mary Kay business because you are in charge of YOU, not someone else.

Mary Kay is definitely a multi-level marketing scheme or
pyramid, if you like. I just got out after spending thousands of
dollars in inventory for practically no return. The "dream" does not exist. It is all a fraud. Check out pinktruth! The stories you will read will give you an idea of the heartbreak,
abuse, misleading tactics they use to recruit unsuspecting women into this scheme.

concerned person
I am very worried for the Indian population. This farce of a company has horrible work ethics and promotes greed and deception. They are leaving the US because they are being unveiled for the crooks they are. They are basically running away from the mess they created. The market in India will soon become over saturated like the US, then where will they go? But by then, many will have lost alot of money. Please be cautious women of the country where this company is expanding. I hope you gain clarity and not join.

Mary Kay has a very successful multi-level marketing scheme. Other have copied them and lots of scams and not-so-legit business have also copied them.

What Mary Kay does is legal and they are doing just fine.

The predictions of income are based on wishes, not facts. Yes, IF you could schedule three classes a week, and IF every women at the class bought cosmetics, and IF ... they wave promises in front of you like carrots in front of a donkey.

IF you ask the woman trying to recruit her for a look at her bank account records and tax returns for her business, which is the way a real businesswoman would research whether a business is a moneymaker or not, she won't show you what the real income looks like.

IF ... I looked like Shilpa Shetty, I could be a Bollywood star too.
