i am currently working for a cleaning company i go into clients homes and clean for them, but i am thinking about starting up on my own, but i am also at college as a mature student hoping to go to uni, so i am so undecided what to do, if i go into business on my own i will have to finish college if i can make a go of it i can make i lot of money and hope to have people working for me, but on the other hand if i dont make a success of it i will be back to square one. please any ideas? |

A cleaning business is one of the best start-ups because it doesn't require a ton of initial investment. I don't know about trying to start a business when your focus should be on your studies though. Running a business is a full time job, even if you're only actually cleaning part-time. |

But seriously, not much overhead and its a low-skill job.
As long as you are trustworthy, flexible and competitively priced, you will get a lot of referral business
Your problems will begin when you get too many clients and have to employ others to do the work with you, which will leave you in the same situation your current employers find themselves in now!
If you can fit it in with your studies, I would combine the two right now and start earning |

I think it is a good idea to start your own business in mobile cleaning. You must consider any overheads and rental cost if you decide to rent a small office or depot. If you start your own mobile cleaning business in your own home or apartment, I am totally agree to your plan. If not so, you rethink the costs again and again. You can charge them less than the company you are working for. It is a competitive society, the cheaper is better if the provided service is as good as your company. |

then even if your business fails you'll still have your qualification! |

My advice would be to finish your education first as people will always need cleaners, so a possible business venture will still be there waiting for you. |

yer go for it, the only problem in my area there is quite alot of mobile cleaners, so if its the same where you are check out the competition first, to make sure you can get enough business, hey if your a mature student now what difference will it make if you take time out,

Finish college first, as you need all you focus on that, when finished give it a try, if it doesnt work out you can go uni, bad thing is a business loan could be on ya shoulders if you use one |

Thats a difficult one ... the business sounds like a great idea and ultimately could lead to your own little empire, but you need to decide how important your studies are to you. Whichever choice you make will be the right one for you. Is there any way you could continue with college and get your business up and running at the same time ... give yourself a time scale and then re-evaluate?
