For me I like being able to start work at 7 am if I want or 9 am if I want. I like not having to worry about being late for work or the boss getting mad because I have a Doctor's appointment Monday. |

-not having to answer to a boss who you think is an idiot & don't respect at all
-not having to kiss the right backsides/excell at office politics to get promoted
-decision making made simple by the fact that you are in control of strategy/costs/hiring (ie no more long, boring meetings that achieve nothing other than to listen to those who just love the sound of their own voices .... yawn !!!)
-flexibility in your schedule as you rightly point out
-sense of accomplishment far greater than just being just another employee out of many
-100% of profits even if it is less than getting a salary initially
-less or at least different stress leading to a better, not always wealthier, but better quality of life & sanity (priceless) !!!!!! |

I love the freedom, but also the sense of accomplishment I get when I book another workshop, or get inquiries about my business. Knowing I did it on my own, that I didn't have a boss telling me what to do, it did it myself. I love being able to be home when my kids come home, and even being able to let them help me with the business. Shelley #2113 |

I think you answered your own question.
Flexibility of work hours.
Not answering to anyone other than yourself.
Not have to worry about taking time off when you want to for what ever reason. |

The difficulty with that statement is most business owners work or hours and more days than they did when employed by another. That law for entrepreneurs he is the fact that they control their own destiny. This becomes/rise business owner working hours as needed to make business prosper. Understand that owning your own business while initially require more hours and you currently work and now. Pull this helps. |

I think ideally, its the sense of freedom of one's own schedule. But unfortunately, when you clock in the hours, people spend alot more time running their own business's than if they had a regular job. Not to mention the mental time that goes into your own business, when you go to sleep at night and on weekends:) |

I think it would probably be, like what you said, the freedom. And, when you work by yourself, there are no annoying co-workers to deal with! It is probably tremendously easier, because you set the expectations. |

yes flexibility is probably number one. you can choose to start work whenever. take the afternoon off, stay up late, sleep in. the second is probably control. you are your own boss, you don't have to work for someone else's standard, and you get all the income. for example, if you worked in mortgage and worked for a company, they might only give you 40% and keep 60%. but if you open you own mortgage, you keep all 100% profit.
and some people just don't work well, listening to others. they like to make decisions on their own. they may have been in the workforce for x amount of years and needs a challenge. i think the idea of starting your own business and making it successful means you've accomplished more than others have. you've made a name for yourself. and are self reliant. not waiting for others. |

yeah, I saw most of the right answers. but I want to emphasize it is not so simple that you need flexiblity of time. it may go to the contrary that you do not have so much time for yourself. you have to do everything on your own, that is, no spare time at all, and maybe forever. |
