Create a product that you can distribute.
How about creating a craft kit that you could sell to home daycares or stay at home moms or single parents. You devise the craft instructions for your project or games, and provide the materials.
a good marketing angel could be "family time in a box" or some such thing, but you get the appeal of it.
have it include a daily project, and then keep making these things so you can sell a new kit with new content every month or week.

You know what, if you have a 3 year old kid, and know arts & crafts you may have a small home business right there. You don't even have to register it as a small business in most cases because you'll make under a certain amount(I think it's $20 000 for Canadians, not sure for where you live).
Anyways, 3 year old, that means you have skills with kids and handling kids. Arts & crafts and computers are also great skills.
Consider offering your skills to others. You can teach arts & crafts to kids, starting with ones in your neighbourhood. You can make money by asking parents to pay a fee for supplies and a bit for your time. Parents should go for it so that they can get some free time. Or you can offer arts&crafts to parents and kids, so they can do it together.
You can also figure out some things that you can cook that are kid-help friendly. So that it's something kids can help parents with, and you can teach them both. Cookies are a good example, where kids can help with measuring and so on.
If nothing else you can offer to babysit kids while parents are at work, or even at home when they need a break. You'll find if you don't load kids up with sugar and soda that they can be very well behaved. And if you keep them occupied they stay out of trouble.
Basically use all those strengths you have from working at home and offer it to others who cannot do it themselves.
Another example is to offer a menu to the neighbourhood, where they can call you in advance and you'll cook it for them for the time they need(like if they want a 6pm supper, you make that supper for that time).
You actually have something to offer people. People don't do all that home stuff anymore even though they'd like to. They don't do arts and crafts because they don't know how. Food preparation is going out the door as people work later. People even outsource the care of their kids. You can take advantage of all this outsourcing. |

Which ever route you take on working a home business, you really need to research it. I would bet there are more scams out there claiming that they could earn you millions of dollars a year, while you sit at home and watch TV and play with your child, than there are legitimate businesses. As with anything in life, you get out of it, what you put into it. It took a very long time for me to finally find the home business I enjoyed. I have probably read every book out there on network marketing, just to educate myself and look for the loophole that was going to make me loose all my money. My current business seems to be very promising.
