My daughter charges about $5.00 an hour but she also barters. One family she sits with gives horseback riding lessons. She changes an evening of sitting for a lesson and comes out better than if she charged. She's also been known to barter for other neat opportunities.
Talk to your dad and see what you can do. You might be able to work out something really neat - like having him buy business cards for you from Vista Print so he can give them to all the families who buy houses from him. (The cards are free but you have to pay shipping.)
