What is a good money-making business I could start with $20,000?

I just inherited $20,000. My husband has a construction business that does not make enough money to support our family of 6 and pay our bills every month. I do not currently work. I'm home with the kids. He would do another business if he could think up a profitable one that's more cut and dry than construction where you never know if you're gonna get paid or find work every week. Think of a good business for us, thanks.

eBay is a great business to start.

Without having a certain amount of passion and knowledge to back you up, you are risking that $20,000 no matter what you pick or have picked for you. This is about the worst time you could pick.

I would suggest you put the $20,000 in a CD with the bank and learn more first. With good internet businesses your investment could be nothing and at least you would gain some experience.

If you don't know what you should do with the windfall of money, INVEST IT SAFELY in a bank account.

But I do understand that you may need to find work (to get money in the short term) so how about considering working at a daycare, a childs gym club, or other business where you can keep your children with you?

One of the worst things to do with this money would be to start another business that may end up sapping the life out of you and whatever money you do have available.

It is a lot of website out there it does take a lot of money to make money online put that money somewhere you are passioned about it

First of all is your husband a Union worker? People working in construction told me that the only way to get steady jobs and get paid well in the construction business is by joining the Union.
Starting any kind of business on your own is always risky, even if you join somebody as a business partner, and it usually takes sometimes before you start making a profit, $20.000 is definitely not enough money to fall back on if something goes wrong given also that you have kids to support and you are currently unemployed.
In your situation your husband needs to find a steady source of
income that you can only get by having a steady job, I mean 9 to 5.
The first thing to consider is what is your husband good at? what kind
of skills does he have? is there anything he would like to do beside construction work that could became profitable?
Usually jobs that pays well require a training period that varies according to jobs but in the long run is probably worth it and finding out what job pays what is easy on the internet.
Be careful to not expose yourself to people who are going to try to get your money promising fast and easy profits in return, it is usually a scam, it won't happen, building a business and making money takes time, everything is a process so be wise and very realistic.

I answered a question about making money on line earlier today I din't give out this address because i did not think it right, I will let you have it because 20 grand is a fair chunk of cash and there will be dozens of sites thrown at you which profess to be able to double or triple it, some will not be worth the ink (most actually) look at them then consider this....

To make money online many people jump right in before they are properly prepared. You know that to be a rocket scientist, a doctor, a brick layer, a construction worker, an office worker, a teacher there are prerequisites, things you must learn, before you can be successful, you don't just jump right in unprepared.

The same applies to the Internet marketing industry even though there are unsavory people out there who'd have you believe it's a "Walk in the Park" and requires no more than the belief that you can just do it.

I will have to say that many online entrepreneurs are so good at what they do that they ignore passion because they can sell anything. But I'm concerned about those of you who are not so knowledgeable at working an online business successfully.

Now, I'm not trying to make anyone believe that Passion is the only thing necessary. Because to be successful you must also have a good website, good marketing, widespread advertising, company support, effective keywords, and etc. Those things are often learned from the company you join - but sidestep Passion and you reduce your chances for success dramatically.

It therefore follows that, if you have no Passion for the company and the products and services provided by that company, again, you won't attempt to do the work you are being taught.

Internet marketing work is typically not all that difficult or time consuming but it does take motivation caused by Passion to get you off and running with a sustained effort so that you won't stumble.

You have a great resource in the Internet search engines to search about the Internet Marketing industry for business opportunities, USE IT!

Your research should uncover a company that you like and have confidence in. It should be solid, founded on great principles, and easy to understand with great products and services that are sell-able for which you can have Passion. If you don't find it move on,
You can find the right opportunity containing the attributes identified above.

well, that one sounds good and the compensation plan is excellent so I guess I'll start that business - does not sound like a decision based on anything near Passion. And remember when you hear that an Internet "guru" does that, don't be tempted, because as I said earlier they are experienced and can sell just about anything, without being Passionate about the company products and services.

Note: By the way it's your goal to get to the point where you can sell about anything online. That end skill and goal is a worthy one indeed.

Remember, there are other steps you must make before you step into Internet Marketing but if you don't first find the right company products and services to be passionate about, all of those other steps may just cause you a lot of frustration instead of bringing you great success.

Not being Passionate about a company and products and services that has market proof that it will sell is a pitfall you simply must avoid.
